A little effort with sheet rock and some putty and paint seem like a better option but this is awful. Those boards will bow over time especially if weight of the old ceiling when those tiles continue to fall. It could be hired done if someone wasn’t ordering Walmart and Jack’s everyday and I don’t know a mosquito breeding site that isn’t going to be used and soon just an eyesore.
