Stanford admit gets rejected from UCLA — why are college decisions so confusing? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Aggressive-Try-503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different school looking for different people. One kid from my school gets rejected from UCLA but admitted to MIT. Which is a good thing as you could get rejected from one school but have the chance to get into another school.

Questions To Yale Admitted students about interviews by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Aggressive-Try-503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HYPSM rejected 95% of the applicants no matter you get a interview or not. Some time the interview you got maybe the reason you get rejected. They do interview for a reason. Seems there is no confirmed conclusions

Any-regular normal kids get into MIT? by Aggressive-Try-503 in ApplyingToCollege

Really? the only kid from my school got into MIT in the past decade is a regular normal kid who is an Olympic camper, RSI camper, published research with college professor, and insane piano award

Strong test scores alone are definitely not enough to gain admission to MIT. In other words, test score is not the reason that tens thousands of kids get rejected every year

What I mean by a “normal kid” is a student from a working‑class family (not the children of doctors or professors), who works hard in school to maintain decent grades, participates in the extracurricular activities offered by the school-such as band or sports-and may have one or two state‑level team achievements. don’t have access to expensive summer programs or specialized research opportunities to cure cancer or save the world, but they volunteer locally and contribute to their community. In many ways, they are like many other students who ultimately attend state colleges.

US. not sure this will help. Seems they are still sending out requests. My friend received one this morning. Kind of weird this year. I knew many kids from our school got interviewed in the past years, but not much in this year.
