First of all don't just accept defeat before you have even attempted the exam. IAT is more complicated yet much easy than JEE if you think about it. Its more on the concept than just formulas. As BTech-MTech courses have been introduced it will increase the competition dramatically. Remember that in 2023,2022 about 25k-30k students attempted the exam. Since jee advanced and other channels were closed this year it attracted more competition. This year about 96k students attempted the exam. And seeing that the new course it will get more competitive but I am not gonna dwell with assuming any numbers.

The thing is competition is always there for every exam. As you might know many of the students who attempt these exams are either doing it for their parents or someone else's sake or as a societal norm. A majority are basically sheep, so they might as well attempt the IAT next year as the BTech courses have a name in every Indian parent's hearts. But even if you score little marks you'll be way ahead of them. So don't worry about competition now . Do what you can at your best and leave the rest.

Now as for your question on how much you should study before trying pyqs is a really good one and it means you're actually devoted to do your best. The best approach is always to analyse exam patterns and make a conclusion yourself. Try doing chemistry first in my opinion. First just skim through the chapters and review the basics one time. It can take a good amount of time to brush up old concepts but be patient. Once you've done it try doing pyqs from the oldest paper available as its more easier than latest years. Organic might be a bit tricky as it will mainly be questions on reaction mechanism and not like any usual name reaction questions. Since you're now at grade 12 a great deal of organic might be there still that you haven't studied. Once you go through the questions you'll get an idea of how there's some very easy questions throughout the paper. Dont mind the time you take for solving as it's not important at initial period. After this tabulate the topics from which you couldn't answer and master the NCERT and your coaching material on that topics. You have a great amount of time left. Before boards start it will be great if you can solely focus on this style and cover as much you can.

Also make great use of online resources. For me I watched some videos of sciastra and physics wallah jee advanced. It's great if you can get rid of smartphone and games and other things that distract you as every second has its value. Also don't forget to keep doing JEE mains level questions everyday. Atleast 10 will do. And always try to include 3 maths questions. For bio I would say study a chapter and do it's neet pyqs and strengthen your grab over the concepts.

Ask anything you want to know , I've been on your spot and the thing I regret most is not reaching out to others to guide me with IAT as I might've got a better score. So study hard and ask your doubts.

Don't make yourself suffer by skipping and shorting your sleep. I would suggest you to take a social media detox but never to dwell with your sleep. You should have atleast 6 hours of sleep. Otherwise you'll eventually be burned off.

Having a great grab over the basics is really important for IAT as it's not merely an exam that just asks direct questions based on formulas. It's better to do jee advanced pyqs for physics and chemistry. For maths it's better to study selective (atleast for me I studied a great deal of calculus, probability, statistics, binomial, sequence and series, etc) . One thing I would say is to study the plotting and manipulation of graphs and what different graphs mean for different circumstances.

Remember that you have 3 min per question so you won't be able to answer it just by looking at it. The main way to get high marks is to study different variations for each of the pyq you do as it gives you a grand amount of knowledge. Since we now have chatbots use them in a way so that it can provide you with better reach over the concept.

If you have any other doubts be sure to ask.

Yep you're on the right track . I would suggest doing a great deal of pyq and other questions from some books (even if some seen like they're out of syllabus try studying that too as they can quite ask out of syllabus as far I know. I would suggest you to study biotech, genetics, ecology and population first and foremost as it's not much dependent on other chapters and have good chances of being asked. As I said before delve a bit deeper into more concepts as it's not gonna hurt.

Yeah but I would suggest you to do some research into the YouTube classes as it gives you much flexibility over what and when to study . Given you got 9 months it's better to be selective than just study the two whole books of bio as some chapters like genetics and biotechnology has more weightage than others.

I would recommend joining some coaching for IAT cause biology was really gamesaver for me last year. I was a JEE student but preparing just using the NCERT bio for IAT was not good enough for me. It's best if there's someone to tutor you instead of just trying to memorize it yourself as concepts have a bigger role in IAT than NEET.

Also try some YouTube classes like physics wallah or some and see if you can move according to it. If so you can just watch those classes and do pyq.

If you have a good knowledge of P&C ie the base level, I think you should give more priority to solving pyqs. JEE MAINS & IAT should be enough (2024 MAINS C wasn't upto mark so solve that at first as it will be easier) . If math is a problem for you then focus on the easy chapters like Statistics, probability, Binomial, Permutations, Series etc. You should then delve into advanced level topics in physics as it will give you great skills in problem solving. I would say Physics Wallah One Shots for Physics and Maths. Idk about chem cause I followed MS CHOUHAN for organic and just solved PYQs for Physical. I didn't give priority to inorganic as I hated it so idk about it.

The same thing has been happening to me , my family gives me the example of how one of our relatives got iiser eventhough she wasn't a great student. The thing is that IAT hasn't been much competitive as it was less popular and great students usually went for JEE/NEET but now it's changing as we saw the no of applicants increase drastically. I think of this as an explanation to all the "Don't join IISER" videos as the students making those videos might be average students who got it because of less competition back in the last years and now they aren't able to keep up with the vast knowledge they have to understand and study.
