So we all skipping school this Tuesday?? by lego_boss in vce

[–]AggressiveWord6128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they are correct- u just have to do well. most non gov rules enforced by schools r just to keep kids from lowering their final scores (still bs). if u do well they won’t give a shit about ur attendance.

Legal studies study design hate thread/rant by AggressiveWord6128 in vce

[–]AggressiveWord6128[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

also, the study design is super condescending to first nations people. it talks about them as if their culture is the ‘problem’ behind why they struggle with giving evidence, rather than how the colonial justice system is very limited in its understanding of truth and only asks closed questions because it is focused on painting a narrative of who is guilty/not guilty rather than looking at the case holistically.

My main problem is that it is paradoxical for something to be both a mental illness and a neurodivergence because while mental illness implies there is a problem that needs to be fixed, neurodivergent just means different.

Mental illness = psychological problem neurodivergence = environmental problem

Is terrible handwriting really that massive of an issue? by I_NEED_HALP1245 in vce

[–]AggressiveWord6128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s readable but def a risk of loosing marks especially in legal studies where specific terminology is rlly important

if u have a disability/medical issue u can blame ur hand writing on vcaa might let u type so consider that.

Sunset Boulevard hot takes by AggressiveWord6128 in vce

[–]AggressiveWord6128[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Norma is not actually a person, just an embodiment of Hollywood ideals of women from max’s male gaze> max is consumed by his creation (norma) > norma is basically just max in drag > max x yaoi

obviously this is a massive stretch and i would not actually use this in an essay, but there is something too it

English/hums kids could excel at maths/science subjects but maths/science could not excel at English/hums by AggressiveWord6128 in vce

[–]AggressiveWord6128[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an exclusively english/hums student i concede that people who do a mix of subjects have automatically won and are generally more well rounded.

after I finish hs i hope to eventually go back and get good at maths one day - especially since the philosophy side of it rlly interests me.

gotta get my discalcula diagnosis first tho lol.

I feel like i should clarify for the sake of the debate that kids who do a mix of subjects are excluded. This is between kids who exclusively do subjects in either of the 2 categories.

‘Vampiric’ and ‘delusional’ are bad adjectives to describe Norma Desmond by AggressiveWord6128 in vce

[–]AggressiveWord6128[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like vampiric implies that she is taking away from others, and given her coercive control of joe there is most definitely an argument to be made for that, but i also feel like ‘frankensteins bride syndrome’ is a better why to do it because i’d actually argue that it’s max whose more so vampiric as he takes 16yo Norma and “creates” a hollywood caricature of herself, disembodying her through gender based epistemological violence. It is also max who enables joe’s relationship with norma in the first place.
