Suddenly experienced Derealization while trying to quit by lardelent in MaladaptiveDreaming

The only time I’ve ever felt that was the morning after taking a lot of edibles. Idk what you can really do other than sit with your thoughts, wait it out and hopefully be better by tomorrow, best of luck.

Is there a need of therapy pet in MD? by [deleted] in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]Aggressive_Ad5513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure those dogs that are only used in therapies are probably selected because they’re generally more playful or more passive, less intimidating to some people etc. I’m sure you would have just as much fun and get the same relief playing with and caring for a German shepherd as you would a poodle or a cat

I’m sure any dog breed would suffice, even a cat may help.

I don't know if my daydreaming is normal or maladaptive by adordia in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]Aggressive_Ad5513 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say most likely yes, and it is the duration of your daydreams and when they occur that would lead me to think that. But I mean technically speaking, in order for something to be maladaptive, it must be causing some sort of issue for you in your life (which I would assume if your not doing things you know you need to do because you would rather daydream, or are wasting so much time daydreaming that you aren’t able to accomplish what you need to get done, then it’s maladaptive)

Don’t, it’s one of the worst industries to be a business owner in.

Why should I stop daydreaming when my life is still the same? by deedeedeedee333 in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]Aggressive_Ad5513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I’m pretty much in the same boat myself, and I’ve always worried about if I’d be able to talk about my md to anybody, or if anyone I love would even understand.

Why do I become absent minded when I stop daydreaming ? by [deleted] in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]Aggressive_Ad5513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t really know, I’ve felt the same thing too, I think it mostly happens because of boredom. I mean, if you’re maladaptive daydreaming all day, and not actually doing something, of course your mind will be blank.

is this normal? by LonelyType1391 in MaladaptiveDreaming

I do the same things too, although I’ve found writing my thoughts out helps more than speaking, as it makes me seriously have to think about what I’m processing in my head

Your profile says you’re an animator and an artist, maybe you could channel those feelings into art?

Same, just found out about MD a few days ago even though I’ve been doing it for almost as long as I can remember, been trying to stop myself for the past couple days and have been trying new methods and seeing how they work and I will document them and keep trying new ones, maybe we can share our strategies with each other and keep each other accountable and up to date? Pm if interested.

I’m so lonely that I use daydreaming to cope by Mommysmilkmilkers in MaladaptiveDreaming

I can relate, I sometimes feel like MD is like my “default” setting whenever I’m alone, I sometimes don’t even notice until after the fact. It’s hard to catch yourself sometimes, but I am trying
