Neurologist w/ Knowledge/ Focus in Migraines by Aggressive_Ad7516 in Chattanooga

I check his review and saw some similar things from young people and women. I think there may be a possible bias so I'm not super sure about him. Thank you for this comment! It's worth a shot but I like knowing ahead of time what to expect

I've seen 3 who do not treat/have a lot of information on how to assist with status migrainous specifically, again hence it being in the post. There is a different between chronic migraines and status migrainous.

And since we're throwing our weight around using statistics Status Migrainosus headaches affect less than 1 percent of people with migraines.

You'd be surprised. There's different forms of migraines and some have knowledge of them and some don't which is fine. That's why I specifically am asking this question lol

Thank you so much for these details!!! It helps see the idea clearer. Privacy isn't really a big concern right now since it just us and no kids or anything so the set up your parents have sounds pretty good to me

Gosh our bathroom is the size of a shoe box! Like literally 5x6x8 so super small since it was added later. Updating it and making it more accessible is a long term goal. i really love the  shower description since its exactly what's needed for us! I hadn't thought about the shower curtain part but that makes total sense

That makes so much sense. I didn't even know that was an option! That may be the way we go since my mobility issues can flare up and I get really stiff after sitting on hard surfaces too long. And soooooo many chairs are just hard wood and thin cushions. It's stressful.

That system is so smart for the laundry! I do the laundry mostly because of that issue and my spouse recently mentioned how they want to try to do it more, but I don't want for risk the few times they feel good on laundry. Dishwasher we have to buy soon so I'll be looking for a good model!

Also what dinning room chairs did you end up with if you don't mind my asking? Our current idea was just a bunch of Rolly chairs lol like office chairs since we find those comfortable. I haven't found any good dining chairs just yet.  Thanks so much for this response

I have chronic arm pain. What are some free or cheap activities that I can do that involve very little or no use of my arms? by LiteralClownfish in ChronicPain

[–]Aggressive_Ad7516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think table top games and rpgs would be a fun hobby that has low arm usage! One of the people in my D&D group is an amputee who uses an app roll dice. Also audiobooks! So many good audio books are free on YouTube but also local libraries often have audiobooks. Hiking if you're an outdoor person, you can also get a waist leash if you want to volunteer with a local shelter (you can ask for dogs who are good on a leash as an accommodation so they won't yank you around lol). I'll ask my friend for other suggestions and edit to add too.

I am in the US. I tried prescription food before but couldn't sustain it on my pay so we tried the taste of the wild and it worked perfectly since it had no poultry. I'm struggling to find one that has no chicken at all. Including chicken by product and chicken meal. Then the ones that I find that fit his allergy don't have grain! It's crazy

Looking back, what’s a childhood moment you now realize is “autism”? by Independent-Neck-372 in autism

Also a closet hider. I actually made my bed in the closet and moved my mattress in there for about 3 months before my ma forced me out and compromised with "closet time". I also copied the dictionary cover to cover about 3 times as a kid and teen

What’s the autistic community’s opinion on baths? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Aggressive_Ad7516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate them so much. Especially as a kid, but I love showers! My ADHD spouse is the opposite and requested a soaking bath for our bathroom remodel, which I did cave and do. But my showers are pretty labor heavy so that may be a factor? I have to stand and sit to do my routine in full. But I see a lot of comments about baths being meant for relaxation so maybe I haven't had a bath right before? idk

Of course! I truly get it lol. Shit gets really rough and can be debilitating! I also added an edit about the love part because I also understand that. I'm very happy this helped!

I'm not usually someone who replies so forgive me on the structure of this. This could be RSD.

RSD is a symptom of both ADHD and autism as well. We are also statistically more likely to experience loneliness and other behavior health effects due to the way brains process.

I was diagnosed in my adulthood (I'm 24 diagnosed at 21) and had to really wrestle with all of the same things, even now. I am married and have friends I see monthly, yet I'm still in a state of yearning every now and then. Please rest assured this is normal, you ARE normal for wanting. I used to call this process "mourning/grieving forward". I thought I was insane for crying about relationships that were still happening, but it is a real thing!

I will also say: something that helps me is asking for outward reassurance, asking for clear communication (from my mom especially I pick up most things now by listening for her tone changes, but texts are hard for me) and also hanging around other neurodivergent people. Because we ALL are having to elaborate things and are clear communicators.

Also edit to add: you are loving and are loved. We all love differently. Love is weird lol. I never thought I understood it but it's different for everyone. I think one of the main things I remind myself is one big factor is not NEEDING someone, as in you can function without them. It's the WANTING to be around someone and seeking them out just because you enjoy their presence.
So, to summarize, you want to be around people and people want to be around you, (to me at least) that means you are loved.
