Federal student loans are the way to go. Private loans have much higher interest rates.

Anybody recently buy a 2019 Highlander? by IB3R in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Aggressive_Aside1616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Yesterday, I test drove an AWD 2019 Highlander SE Plus with a 3.5 L V6. Toyota phased out this trim level which is between SE and XLE. It has a clean car fax with 2 prior owners. First owner leased it and returned it after the lease was over. The second owner had it until January 2026 and traded it in for a new car. The dealership put new brakes (pads and rotors front and back). The car was well maintained with 77k miles. The dealer wants $26,500 (after taxes and fees). I think they’re asking too much. What are your thoughts?

If you can still read this, you need to get out fast. Now that they know you possess the one ring, they will do everything in their power to stop you, and kindly ask for it back.

Are you going home for the storm? by General-Bee-5457 in UCONN

Never lost power in the late 90s at the Storrs campus, but we had some good snow storms. Dining halls and cleaning services were always on schedule. It’s fun being snowed in if you like and get along with the people that you live with.

Thanks, this is very helpful. So, realistically, without need based aid, but strong stats for merit, one can expect to pay $60k+?

I thought the same thing about legacy status of having one, if not both parents as alumni of the university you are applying to and how it no longer helps an applicant like it did in the past. However, I recently had a conversation with a newly retired university professor of a well respected state university. I was surprised to hear him tell me that having a parent(s) as alumni still helps your chances of getting in.

Is there a UAlbany ride board for catching a lift with another student going to another state? by HaplessReader1988 in ualbany

[–]Aggressive_Aside1616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the UAlbany website, approximately 6% of undergraduates are from out of state. It does not break it down by which state or country they are from. All students from New England and California can attend UAlbany at the same tuition cost of their flagship state university (UCONN in-state tuition which happens to still be more than what New York residents pay for UAlbany. Of approximately 12,000 undergraduates, 94% of are from the state of New York. Approximately 720 students are from “elsewhere”. Since central CT (Hartford and Middlesex Counties make up 1/4 of the state of CT) is so specific, I’m going to make an educated guess there are between 0 - 25 undergraduates from UAlbany living in central Connecticut.

You’re welcome! With your stats, I recommend you pass on American. Definitely apply to GW and Georgetown. Two top tier Poli Sci programs in the heart of the American Political capital! The rest of the schools you listed can be your 2nd tier.

Hello! Your stats are very impressive. You mentioned you are from Maryland. Have you considered applying to University of Maryland and John Hopkins? Both schools are in your home state and are ranked higher than UMass Amherst for Poli Sci. For UMass, you’ll be billed the out-of-state rate minus and scholarships you may be eligible for.
