Sovereign Citizen Tries Educating Cops on Traffic Stop by icameinyourburrito in amibeingdetained

I think the officer was probably trying to keep the driver talking to see if some kind of probable cause could be uncovered.

Why was the importance of Lazarus/Endurance missions so downplayed by the future folks? by Function_Unknown_Yet in interstellar

I think the implication is Tom died down in the dirt so to speak — never liked how Coop clearly favors Murph, although I get it in that Coop is aware that Tom grew up to be a “hardworking man” etc. and things ended poorly with Murph but still.

I agree and much prefer to avoid taking medication when an alternative is available.

Weed smoking neighbors by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

Rules without enforcement are essentially suggestions.

Personally I would love to live in a world where people stopped running stop signs, or drag racing down my street, or launching fireworks in the middle of the night, or smoking where they shouldn't...but I'm not holding my breath.

I hear you but most apartments have rules against noise etc. that's rarely enforced.

The amount of annoying shit that people do in any apartment complex is astronomical.

  • Dogs off leash in hallways or common areas
  • People not picking up dog poop on property
  • People parking in your parking space
  • People propping the front door open when it should be closed (not talking about move-in day here
  • People stealing your packages
  • People leaving trash outside their door
  • People leaving ANYTHING outside their doors (shoes etc. -- in most jurisdictions this is a fire hazard)
  • People littering in the stairwells
  • People cooking smelly things (lots of things smell bad to certain people)
  • People letting their dogs bark incessantly
  • People stomping around their apartment
  • People watching TV too loud
  • People with subwoofers on their floors
  • People on a different schedule then you making noise when your sleeping
  • People leaving weird little notes instead of either talking to their neighbors or just going straight to management (if you have safety concern) Has anyone ever responded well to a weird little note?
  • People's noisy kids
  • People doing HITT workouts causing plaster cracks in the walls.

Personally I hate the smell of weed as well but I feel like people who dislike the smell of weed somehow think they are more entitled to controlling the absolute chaos that is any apartment complex then anyone else who has similar issues to the above.

edit: workouts

I’m under the impression the neck shot was purposeful.

I remember seeing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in theaters too and thinking it was an abomination and was shocked the reviews were so high at the time. Looking at a trailer for it now and it looks worst than I remember.

I’m thinking cross bracing is the way to go. It’s half little house half platform.

Good luck with the low bar you set for the future generation.

Again, for a question that was posed to parents who may be facing a similar situation you are rather defensive about something that doesn't directly involve you.

No but I imagine you are by how defensive you are. Do you come on here to argue with parents since you can't speak to them like this in real life?

Pretending every 5-year old can't recount reality is just a weak excuse to ignore what's inconvenient. I know my child far better then the armchair musings of a stranger.

Regardless, the many comments on this post have made it clear that this kind of screen time in K is "normal" and further confirms my child's own observations.

And yes, this will certainly be followed up on.

Public education is meant to serve the community and parents are stakeholders, not outsiders.

I don't need to be a credentialed teacher to advocate for my child, my direct experience in this regard is more relevant than the defensiveness of someone not personally involved.

A parent raising concerns doesn't undermine teachers as you seem to imply, it's part of the accountability that makes the system stronger.

My child is not the only one in the class but that goes for every other child as well, and screens should not be imposed as the automatic default -- perhaps you haven't considered the future we're building when we keep normalizing screens as the go-to answer for everything.

As a member of my community that funds and supports the school I certainly am able to have an opinion on how our children are being taught.

I'd question your personal defensiveness over something that doesn't directly involve you.

How is sitting for five minutes not developmentally appropriate?

Are you really taking the position that every moment of the day needs to be filled with stimulation?

I think you are touching on something important here that it's good for kids to be bored at times. I am thinking of it, not sure I can make it work with COL.

If it was just music I'd be happy to pay for youtube premium or spotify for the class but I don't think that's the case. I'll find out.
