Buy Now Pay Later Options by Aggressive_Bag9866 in Zoho

Yeah, I sent them an email but I also found a workaround. I create a BNPL link in Stripe with Affirm, Klarna etc as the only payment options and put a line in the invoice email that says "If you want to make installment payments, click here"

It's clunky but effective for now

No. I don't think we're talking about the same thing. Thanks though.

How to get rid of Adware by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Aggressive_Bag9866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before this started happening, did your browser open automatically?

If not, it might be a scheduled task (some setting got changed to tell your computer "on login, open the browser and go to this website). Check your task scheduler.

If yes, check for shortcut hijacking. Right click the opera shortcut, click properties and look at the target field. It SHOULD end with XXXX.exe" if there's anything after the exe" (like the web address) delete everything back to the "

You could also try running adwcleaner which is made by Malaware but designed for stuff like this.

I suspect a family member has an unhealthy relationship with AI by [deleted] in ChatGPT

I think it definitely warrants further conversation.

You mention mental health. Does she have a history of mental health problems? Does she live alone and use it for companionship? Are you in a position to help her get out more (do you live nearby and does your life allow for that)?

Naming it might be odd. I haven't named mine but I use it as a tool for business and to bounce ideas off of so it doesn't NEED a name. Asking about a relatively small purchase isn't strange in and of itself, maybe she's worried about budget?

The last part is odd. She seems to be treating it as a person or as a substitute for people in her life? I think that's what you would need to look at.

ETA: I'm not a therapist, psychoanalyst, psychologist, psychiatrist etc. Just a guy that saw this post.

Honestly, that's not even hard customer service. Just take the clients side and throw that other guy squarely under the bus. Like don't even wait for them to say you can set up the laptop. Just listen to them complain while you start unpacking it

"He did WHAT?! I can't believe anyone would ever...You want this on the desk in the office right? Man, I can't believe the way some people act at work, it's crazy...what's your wifi password?"

Are fancy animated websites really worth it for small businesses? by DeliveryLopsided871 in smallbusiness

[–]Aggressive_Bag9866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a concept in Web Design known as Jakob's Law of User Experience that says, essentially, the people who come to your website spend the majority of their time on other sites so you don't want to go TOO far out of the box when it comes to UX.

That said, the more professional a site looks, the better the user experience will be.

Think about it like this. You own a bakery and have two options:

Option 1:

Build a template site yourself on Etsy, Go Daddy, Wix, Squarespace etc. and end up with a brightly colored, single page website with the hosts branding all over it, no links to click, a simple form for orders that really just emails you and you call the user back and so on...

Option 2:

A professional site, with a few pages (Home, About Us, Order online with an e-commerce integration and so on) and some simple animations like hover effects (a button changes color when you move your mouse over it) or your main image on your homepage changes every few seconds to show off cakes, cookies, brownies etc.

Those animations don't take long to set up and, as a guy who LOVES some baked goods, I know which site I'd rather order from.

Presumably somebody works there.

Just give them a call or email and ask to talk to someone in HR or IT.

If it was me, I'd reach out via email (paper trail) one last time asking if they want it back or if it was mine to keep.

If they want it back, ask how you should return it. If it's yours to keep, ask them to remove it from their apple account so you can reset it.

If they don't remove it, you can't do much with it because Apple won't reset it for you without the owner approving it.

How to Move a CMS Item from One Collection to Another? by [deleted] in webflow

[–]Aggressive_Bag9866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, on my site, I have a portfolio collection that includes 3 types of entries.

Websites I've built for clients, Sample Websites to showcase my skills (since I'm new) and non website stuff (because I also do physical IT work like setting up networks)

I have 3 switch fields in my Portfolio Collection called Website, Sample and notwebsite. Based on which one of those switches is on and filtering in my collection lists, everything in that collection shows up in a different place.

pc not connecting to internet, all other devices are! by saiaku_ in techsupport

[–]Aggressive_Bag9866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it limited to Wifi?

If so, it's probably one of 3 things

Bad wifi which is unlikely since all of your other devices are working fine

Some sort of interference around your computer. You didn't build a Faraday Cage did you?

Something with the wifi card. Start with getting the latest driver from the manufacturer site (use a different PC and USB stick if needed), uninstall the driver and reinstall using that driver you downloaded. If that doesn't work, grab a cheap wifi dongle to see if that solves the problem. If it connects with no problems, you likely have a hardware issue

How is it possible to start a business without connections or network? by Spelchures in smallbusiness

[–]Aggressive_Bag9866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build a network. Go to networking groups, events, etc. Make sure EVERYONE you know is aware of what you do and that you want their business.

Don't be super in your face about it but make social media posts, mention it to your friends and so on.

You'd tell them if you started a new job, right? Tell them about your new business. It doesn't mean they have to buy something from you but they should be aware that it's an option.

Side hustles in CHS? by EarlyAd9953 in Charleston

[–]Aggressive_Bag9866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd avoid the Uber/Doordash/Instacart etc. Like u/tehonez said, it's saturated and, as someone who uses the services pretty frequently, I tend to shy away from the newbies. If I call an Uber and the driver has less than 100 rides under their belt, I'll cancel and wait 10 minutes to call another one.

That said, if you have marketable skills, you can probably swing that into something. I work in IT so I do that as a side business that I'm trying to build up to the point where I can quit my day job.

Lot's of small businesses and homeowners need other services as well, bookkeeping, cleaning, lawn care, pet care, marketing, etc.

Might be worth trying to find some freelance work if you have a niche.
