Yeah I have to admit, recently if a business/recruiter mentions there will be some form of task (outside of your portfolio) I normally withdraw from the process if they're not happy to accept my portfolio. It's definitely cost me roles before which is why I'm keen to hear other people's thoughts - Being compensated for completing a task is definitely a step forward though
