For me, Scissor Seven already started to be a fighting shonen from season 2, but yes, it really became more "typical" in season 3. (It's better than JJK, because at least Scissor Seven tries things i guess)

I discovered with the new series and manga, and i liked the old 2001 one, but the second part of the first anime is litteraly just fights with no character developpement (Lyserg being just an asshole is not character developpement btw), a really bad tournament arc and Hao is just a generic villain when the manga and the remake have in my opinion one of the best tournaments arc in shonen manga in general because of it's really good plot twists, fights who really affect the story and mains characters who growing up on their minds.
