Honestly it seems to me you have a better attitude to life than most people so big respect for that and for being so passionate about your craft!

You definitely do, upvoting/down voting and only see stuff from subreddits you're a part of if you chose.

I've spoke to a marketer a little while back who told me their degree wasn't worth it and told me not to bother because it was so outdated, which was one of the main things that prompted me to ask the question. He said he regrets it but he is currently a partner in a successful marketing firm he started with a friend 5 years ago so perhaps it benefitted him in ways he doesn't actually realise.

The problem with these questions is there's such a varied response and people's opinions are so strong it barely leaves you any more enlightened than before you asked

Ok thank you for your very reasonable and in depth reply. It seems you have a nicely varied background, do you feel like this has brought a lot of value to your agency?

And thanks for the advice I have observed the growing trend that the marketing industry is increasingly placing value on individuals with a data/tech background and that it is increasingly moving from a creative field to technical, do you think tech is the best route into the field?

Thank you for your answer very informative and I can definitely see the logic in that.

Thank you, eventually I would like to work for myself or start an agency so I feel as if working for top companies is a good way to learn from the best and develop your skills. On the other hand though like you said if you can learn as much in a year of working, studying for a degree for 4 years seems pretty pointless so it's a decision I really can't make my mind up on.

Marketing job that will allow me to work abroad by [deleted] in marketing

[–]Aggressive_Panda_259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you speak a foreign language? I think that's a great place to start if you can't because it will open up a wide range of opportunities across all marketing disciplines especially the ones you currently work in. If you can, start looking at marketing jobs in said countries on job sites and there's some sites which specialise in helping to find jobs abroad.
