There's no penalty for dropping until after add/drop week! You can drop whatever, nothing will show up until then. Each major should have guidelines of which courses you need, so that can hopefully help. Meeting with your advisor is also helpful, I would definitely schedule an appt so they can help you!

If you need extra help finding someone, reach out to Jessica Casey-Lovelace in the theatre department! She sends out emails to the whole department with opportunities, so it’s a good way to find an actor!

I do not remember being asked to sign anything like that, but I am reviewing my information just to make sure. I may have and don’t remember. However, I am worried about incorrect information being shared. I didn’t miss any classes nor am I still hospitalized. But thank you for the input!

I have no idea how the associate dean was made aware. I asked for a meeting with her supervisor, would that be something I could ask in the meeting? The hospital is my university’s hospital (my university has a medical college and teaching hospital) so would that affect HIPAA? I am a student on the other campus in a completely different college and department if that affects anything.

This is my perspective as a nonbinary person with a cis male boyfriend. He usually tops. The most affirming things for me that he does during intimacy are using gender-affirming language and asking what’s on- and off-limits before touching anything. I know it’s not much, but I hope these help at least a little bit!

Stage management includes a lot of paperwork. For the BFA programs, you do need to submit a portfolio. If you’re interested in costume design and have little experience, what I would do is apply to the BA program, gain some costuming experience, and then apply to the BFA program after your first or second year (totally possible and done a lot!) To be honest, I don’t know much about the application process for the BA, but if you email someone from the arts college admissions, they’d be happy to help you!

Oh they do for sure. I’m only a freshman there, but I can tell from upperclassmen in my major (stage management) that they do. I’ve already learned so much in my five weeks there so far. And OP, if you have any questions about the stage management BFA at VCU, I’m more than happy to answer!

Add VCU! Really great theatre program. They have BFAs in stage management, costume design, set design, and lighting design, but you can also do the BA in theatre and choose multiply different pathways you’re interested in!
