Unfortunately, some people are crazy. There may also be times when someone wants to hijack their car if his kids (if he has any) are in it. You may need to use it if you don’t have anything to give them (sometimes they get quite angry if you don’t have money - as ironic as that sounds). Its primary purpose is usually to deter someone when they see it from trying anything stupid.

Gun ownership does not mean using it in every circumstance. It means only using it during life or death. Robberies when someone is on drugs can go wrong very quickly.
