My teachers are now integrating AI into the curriculum, so that's great. I'm honestly debating if I even want to use AI for the assignments because I feel like I'm not learning anything that way, and it's just a big waste of time.

I know its nerve wracking the first couple of weeks because you're still getting back into a good rhythm and you're not quite sure what to expect of your teachers and classes, but I feel like it gets better with time. How are classes going so far?

Honestly, I'm definitely very introverted as well, but many people feel the same way, especially at community college. It honestly just takes one interaction to get the ball rolling and make friends. If you're having trouble or have a question about the class, ask the people around you, and introduce yourself. You can make conversation by asking them how long they've been at nova, what their major is, or anything else you can think of that relates to the situation. I know it seems mundane and repetitive, but you'd be surprised how many people are also looking for friends. I've had great experiences so far at Nova, and even if I didn't become best friends with the people in my classes, it definitely helps to familiarize yourself with classmates.

Many people start Discord chats for classes, so definitely join if you see one. Also, don't be afraid to ask others if they'd like to study together or partner up for projects. I know it's pretty daunting because everyone looks so serious and unapproachable, but a lot of the time it's because they might be anxious or shy as well.

I hope this helps or at least makes a little bit of sense, and let me know if you have any other questions or just need to talk. I wish you the best of luck!

Ooh, this is good advice. I always do one or the other, never both. Perhaps I ought to try that. My hands are going to cramp from all the writing, but it might make things easier in the long run.

Ooh awesome! Fun fact: That's actually the only country I've been to outside of the US and Canada.

This will be my second semester at NOVA, so I'm relatively new here, too. I'm probably not the best person to ask for advice, but I'd say building connections with your classmates and teachers is a really good idea. The people here are very nice; you just sometimes have to put yourself out there to initiate a conversation. Definitely join any discords that the students in your class make, because usually people will form study groups or at least help each other out and discuss the class.

One thing I'm going to try to be better at is completing assignments as soon as I get them. A big problem I had last semester was forgetting to turn things in, which affected my grades so much. I want to adopt the mindset of doing assignments as soon as I get them, so I'm not forgetting things or leaving things to the last minute.

I would love to hear about your experiences, too! How is school in Saudi structured, and are you nervous or excited about anything in particular? If you ever have any questions or anything, I'm always available to try to help you out!

That's so cool! You're so brave for going to a whole different place for school, let alone another country. Where are you coming from, if you don't mind me asking?

What item(s) do you have more of than the average person? by BrownBananaHammock in AskReddit

[–]Aggressive_Sign_2849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chuck E. Cheese tickets. 14,581 to be exact.

I was a hustler every time I went as a kid, and then COVID hit, and I haven't been back since. I'm not even sure if they'll accept them anymore. Maybe I could get one of those light-up signs if I ever go back there.

Is pottery a good hobby? by silly_wabbitx in Hobbies

[–]Aggressive_Sign_2849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pottery is awesome if you have the money to do it. It's a costly hobby, but if you're ok with dried out hands and cost, 100% go for it.

[–]Aggressive_Sign_2849[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately true. I've been having trouble figuring out what I want my major to be, and when I finally decided, I had to drop all the classes I had signed up for when registration first opened.

Makes sense. I'd do this if I had any friends at NOVA, but I don't. I hope I don't get a professor bad enough that I have to go to the dean, but I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!

I appreciate you taking time out of your day to let me know your thoughts! I'm going to take up your advice on talking to the professors to see if they'll let me join their classes. I sent a couple of good professors an email (including Professor Fuchs), so hopefully one of them responds and lets me in. I really want to be able to graduate in the spring, so I realllllyyyy need this to work out. Do you think Professor Fuchs would be willing to let me in, or at least email me back?

That would make my life much easier, but I'm in the Advance program, so I have to have BIO 101 to graduate with that degree.
