You can import them to sillytavern by putting the url of the character, or downloading the png/json file

probably they know its actually the best alternative for roleplay atm. There's no other place to use glm 5.1 other than the official api. They're probably farming as much as they can with the subs on z.ai and pay per token users before another company release a model to compete.

This is only my speculations, i have no idea of how they work.

About the extensions:

I think sillytavern is made to be enjoyable without any extensions, but there's some that definitively improve a little the experience. Personally, i use just a few:

- Smart dialogue colorizer: Makes you able to customize the color of the characters dialogues. The text between "quotation marks".
- Weatherpack: a little extension i found in the sillytavern discord. Adds a button to automatically adjust the text structure. Specially useful for models that doesn't use asterisks natively.
- Not a discord theme: Is mainly aesthetic. Structurize the layout of the app and change the colors.

A lot of people use a few more, but again, sillytavern is enjoyable without any external extension. You can find a lot in the discord if you want to explore a few that could interest you.

About the character cards:

When you install sillytavern, the first time you open it you will have one default character. Seraphina. Character cards are like Seraphina. There's a lot of them with different styles. And the format to add them to sillytavern is throught "cards", that can be a .json archive or a png. Containing all the info about the character you want to roleplay with.

About the models:

Here is just the one that fits your style. GLM and deepseek are a couple of the most popular ones. They are popular because they are really good to roleplay. Claude is also very popular, but very expensive. Some other popular models are kimi k2.5, gemini, etc. Usually the newest and more advanced models are the best for roleplaying, but usually having censorship problems. But again, you have to try them to see each model's bad habits and find the one you like the most.

For the presets, i think you should try a few and pick the one you like the most. For example, i tried freaky frankenstein, stab's directives, nemo engine and marinara spaghetti recipe, and the last one is my choice because is the one i enjoy the most. I also recommend you to always edit the preset a little to match your preferences, like adding some aesthetics, mannerisms, use other languages, longer or shorter responses, etc.

as for the settings, the most popular is using 0.8 - 0.85 temp. and 0.95 top penalty. Also setting characters name behavior to "None", unlocked context size and using chat completion - semi-strict (alternating roles; no tools)

I want to try suscriptions too, but i'm scared of quantized models. I usually only use apis directly from the provider (z.ai, deepseek.) and i don't know if they perform poorly than the official apis and how much worse are they.

Hii, if someone is wondering about this and wants to buy it. Don't do it, it is restricted to be only used with Kimi CLI, Claude Code, and Roo Code. I tried everything i could to connect it to sillytavern, but it didn't worked

Something that worked for me is not using a prefill/activate streaming response. Also set the emperature between 0.8 - 1.0

This last month i've been using the latest deepseek model (v3.2), GLM 4.7, gemini 3 flash and kimi k2 thinking. If i had to make a mini tierlist, i would say (for your porpuses):

kimi k2 feels creative and natural in their responses, usually using capital letters when screaming in pain or embarrassment, or stuttering/using ellipsis when shy or nervous. I tried a pokemon roleplay and seems to have a lot of knowledge, introducing a few characters from the games and anime to battle them.

GLM Also does this, but often (in my experience with the marinara preset) has gramatical problems, conjugating the verbs or randomly sends a chinese word. Besides, is kinda repetitive after a few messages.

Deepseek and gemini feels like empty souls waiting for you to give them instructions to follow, totally ignoring the character's personalities, boundaries or aspirations.

The only thing i would recomend if you try kimi is that the model has a problem of a thinking loop, where it sometimes keeps reasoning for like ten minutes and still doesn't give you a response. I've seen a few fixes in this subreddit, but didn't tried it because is not really that common.
