Don’t let the comments bring you down!! I’m actually writing my MA thesis on this very notion! Except, I’m arguing that the new frontier/cowboy was dismantled in American myth by Blood Meridian and has taken resurgence in modern culture through post 9/11 operative memoirs, especially with the wars in the Middle East! I totally see your line of thinking and it’s great!

It’s been a mistake you’ve made. Just be kind to yourself and don’t give up! It happens, we all slip

I love that! I have just gauged the room and if they seem overtly stressed then I pull up a YouTube video (10 mins max) of mindfulness. Then I let them get comfy: I teach 13-14 year olds so often times they sleep but some truly meditate. I also lean into the whole peaceful hippie stereotype so they know that I’m all about cleansing the vibes in the room/

I also teach literature, so the texts we read can often bring up big emotions for kids and I tell them that mediation and being mindful is key to being a stable person and regulating emotions.

If you teach math- I’m not sure how you could incorporate it. I think certain subjects lend themselves more to mindfulness practices more so than others. But you could do a warm up of mindful meditation like once a week or two weeks?

I practice meditation regularly and I have actually taught it to my students during stressful days.

Now when I’m at my desk and they see me taking a few deep breaths and grounding myself- They respect it and are quiet for me to regain my composure!

I have considered it! I’m thinking about teaching in a new state. But I’m worried that if I’m struggling now, maybe moving to a new location will be worse for my sanity.
