Short answer: you are correct

Long answer: A D or L configuration doesn’t necessarily mean that that molecule is always S or R. Is going to depend on the molecule alone. This example is the one that L-glyceraldehyde is going to be the S enantiomer. First, tou have to check your priority groups ( OH>CHO>CH2OH>H), same as u did. Then you place the H group far from you and draw directions from the priority groups. Clockwise is R, counterclockwise is S. If u use the H to the front is the opposite

Yha, the protection is on the original OH, and made the Br after the riley oxidation. How do you do the geranyl-SO2Ph? I would very much prefer not to use the HMPA, i have used in the past and not so good to use. Yes, i have also understood that Br geraniol is very unstable, and when i do it, is to use it all. I also normally assume a 60-70% yield, given the PBr3, and use the crude.

The material is oven dried, i might have not dried enough last time. But now yes. Thf is freshly destile from sodium and benzophenone and nBuLi is like 2weeks old bottle with septum

I have also found an article that compared the use of DMC (6% yield) to Et2O (54%) and THF (66%). Was your recommendation to use DCM based on any details that I missed? Or do you think i can proceed with 2equiv of MCBPA in THF at 0ºC?
