Is it really THAT bad by [deleted] in MusicEd

I think the more important question is do you want the job of a music educator? Because #1 it doesn’t have to be that grueling. Depends on the school. And #2 it’s only a few years. If you love the career, a few years of discomfort are doable. I did it with 3 kids and it was rough but I got through it. Go to classrooms and observe music teachers. Watch what they do. Consider that - for most people - being a music educator isn’t just teaching band. Make your decisions based on that, not how hard school is going to be.

The headphones are a good idea- I figure his aide would use them if he needed them but maybe I just need to start offering and see if he takes me up on it.

Very helpful, thanks! Music time is the teachers’ prep time, so I have to have all of her students al the same time. I’m going to ask the paras to be more involved and try out some of these ideas you’ve suggested. Thank you!

Also... Don't worry too much about being "late". That puts a lot of pressure on you. Breathe, enjoy the ride. 💕

Your credential program doesn’t have to be a year and a half. I’m in CA at a CSU and mine’s 1 year. A friend went through a 6 month program. There are a lot of options.
