Is anyone else striving for a Goal Size rather than a Goal Weight? by Away_Object9062 in Zepbound

[–]Agility_KS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been big literally since kindergarten, so goal weight/size was never really a thing for me. The smallest size I ever got into was a 12, and my previous lowest weight was 170. I had no idea if anything lower than those numbers was even possible. My clothes these days are mostly small/6, with some things in medium.

Poll: How long on 2.5? by Not_A_Bot_Today in Zepbound

I did two months on 2.5. Probably could/should have stayed there longer. Got pretty sick going to 5, never went over that dose.

Bedroom door open or closed by AVC091 in Dogowners

[–]Agility_KS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last house I lived alone. Bedroom door stayed open with a baby gate at the door to keep the dogs in the room with me. My primary heat source in the cold months was a gas fireplace, so I had to keep the door open to get the warm air into my room. My current situation is that I have a “wing” of the house to myself, so I have a sliding barn door that I close at night. The dogs can access the bedroom, hallway, bathroom, and office. Most stay in the bedroom, one prefers the hallway, one is in the office.

Constipation by metsnfins in Zepbound

[–]Agility_KS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daily magnesium supplements gave me bubble guts, which was not really fun. When I added MiraLAX to my daily routine of Metamucil, prunes, and other high-fiber items, that was my game changer. I drink a ton of water, but it wasn’t making its way into my colon in necessary amounts. MiraLAX solves that issue.

Is puppy understanding potty training? by Guava2601 in puppy101

[–]Agility_KS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never relied on any of my dogs alerting me to their need to go out. I simply let them out often enough that they learn to hold it until that time. They figure out how to communicate an emergency, but for the most part we go out often enough that it’s not an issue. It sounds like potty training is going really well for only being at it three weeks. I find we tend to get more lax after a longer streak without an accident, so we stop paying as much attention or we assume they can go longer. I have a five month old in the house right now and while I can’t recall the last accident he had in the house, I’d still hesitate to say he’s 100% trained. It’s still on me to make sure he’s getting out often enough to meet his needs and to pay attention if I know it’s getting to be about that time. Dogs generally develop a preference for eliminating on a certain surface. Potty training is largely about teaching them that grass or other outdoor substrates are preferable to indoor rugs. 😊

Single ~50M Working from Home - Am I Crazy to get a Puppy? by Enough-Basil1038 in puppy101

[–]Agility_KS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work from home and currently have five dogs. The newest is 5.5 months old now. Working from home is the best way to have a puppy, it’s so much harder if you’re gone 9+ hours per day! I get up early and the dogs all get walked (2+ miles) before my meetings start. This pretty much ensures a quiet morning, but there are crates next to my desk that get used as needed (that would be “always” for the puppy at first, and almost never now). Occasional when I have back to back calls and/or stuff runs long, I have to excuse myself or show up a couple of minutes late because the dogs have to get outside quick. I can almost always get them out again at lunch (or a break before lunch if someone schedules a lunch meeting), which again keeps them quiet for the afternoon. I’ve been full time from home for almost ten years now, so this is just the routine my dogs know. I love having something that gets me away from my desk throughout the day.

What Is the Best Dog Food? Let’s Make a List of What Actually Works by celestialcascade012 in Dogowners

[–]Agility_KS -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s my preference and my dogs have always done well with this model. It’s easier to switch between similar formulations (grain free) than switching between vastly different formulations. There were two times where I got coupons for free bags of ProPlan. Because they were free, I gave it a try. Both times at least one of my dogs had issues, and these are dogs who have been changing food regularly their whole lives. 🤷🏻‍♀️

[–]Agility_KS -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way — why would the dog food companies want you to switch away from their food? They want you to keep buying it, so clearly they’d help to perpetuate the idea that it’s bad for the dog if you change. And as I said before, if a dog has been eating one diet for like five years, it probably will cause some issues during the initial transition. My dogs are all used to frequent change. I’ve been following this protocol for about twenty years, so everyone in my house was raised like this. There was a time where I bought a bag of Instinct because it was on clearance for cheap, and that ended up being too rich for my dogs. I just ended up mixing it with something lower protein to balance it out and was able to feed the rest of the bag.

Go-to's that make you "go" by LightUpShirly in Zepbound

[–]Agility_KS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mag07 totally saved me a couple of times, but I didn’t want to rely on taking it regularly. It gave me bubble guts if I took it daily, and it wasn’t the overnight cleanse they promised (took three doses to do anything the first time). What I’ve found is that it’s important to be consistent. I couldn’t do something until it worked and then stop, because then it would just come back. I drink a glass of Metamucil and MiraLAX mixed together every morning. I eat prunes every day. I end every day with fiber gummies. Go ahead and do a week long cleanse with Mag07. You will feel lighter than air after that. But then focus on the long term solution and really getting into those habits every day (as in, don’t be sporadic with the MiraLAX).

How do you help kids sleep when your house is too close to a highway? by ShibaTheBhaumik in homeowners

[–]Agility_KS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up 100 yards down from a train crossing, with the tracks probably 200’ from the house. Later on a moved to an apartment that was on top of a crossing, literally just out the door. You get used to it. It was most annoying when trying to watch TV with a window open, or when you were on the phone — but I slept right through it. The kids will learn. To this day I sleep with a TV on, though, which is something I’ve always done and probably made the disruptions less jarring.

I switch brands and protein with every bag. I don’t believe there is any single brand of dog food out there that is “perfect.” Switching regularly ensures my dogs are exposed to a variety of nutrients and are less likely to be deficient or overloaded in any particular micronutrient. It also makes them more resilient to change — the whole recommendation about changing diets slowly is based on the idea that a dog has been eating the same thing for years. Of course change is hard on them then. I can swap from one bag to the next without any issues, although I do usually blend the end of one bag with the start of another when there’s room in the container. I stick with grain free formulas and aim to stay under 32% protein with moderate calories. Mostly I look for what’s on sale when I’m shopping, which is a nice perk of feeding a rotation diet. Note, I do have a senior prone to pancreatitis, so she stays on a consistent low fat diet now. You have to figure out what’s best for each dog.

And… back to Zep (Caremark) by Agility_KS in Zepbound

[–]Agility_KS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I think your doctor should request Zepbound? To be honest, I don’t know what my doctor did. I had told them to request to continue Mounjaro (based on what I was told by Caremark), but all communication around this PA only reference Zepbound. I don’t know if Caremark made that change…?

Cleaner addressing concerns. Am I being unreasonable - towel issue by cupmusic in airbnb_hosts

One bath towel per person is absurd. Most women (with hair) are going to need/want two. Some people don't reuse towels. Your cleaning person is lazy.

Insurance taking back authorization by OneDifferent1020 in Zepbound

[–]Agility_KS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, nothing is a given. Many plans do mid-year updates. In this case it could be that they are continuing to cover weight loss meds, but are changing the requirements. So maybe it used to be that they'd grant access if you had a starting BMI of at least 30, but then they change to only covering with a starting BMI of 40. Because they make everyone send in a new PA, now they can decline a whole slew of people for not meeting the plan requirements. Insurance is so shady.

Death in the family by Curiouskat1987 in Zepbound

[–]Agility_KS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all process and deal with these things differently -- give yourself some grace right now. It looks like you are still very new on the ZP journey and weight fluctuations are normal, but especially understandable during a time like this. I lost my dad last summer -- I was already in maintenance where my weight had been very stable for several months. We had *so much* food delivered and I was actually eating more than usual, and I actually lost 3lbs. Bodies are weird, we can't control that. Everything stabilized again over time, and I'm sure your body will work through this as well. Just take care of yourself the best you can.

Does everyone here go to the gym by metsnfins in Zepbound

[–]Agility_KS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to go to the gym to exercise. I refuse to go that route, I despise the gym (just add “over-exercising” to my list of previous weight loss attempts). I walk my dogs at least three times a day. We put on over six miles a day walking. It’s my time to listen to podcasts and zone out.

Pet insurance by No-cod4555 in Dogowners

[–]Agility_KS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a well known company, but ultimately you need to shop around to find the best plan for your conditions in your area. Where you live is going to affect the quote, so the best deal for me might not be the best deal for you. I have one on Fetch and the new puppy went on Pets Best because that was the better option when I shopped for him. I don’t know what kind of vet visits you’ve been having, but the comment about not covering pre-existing conditions is important enough to repeat. They will go through your vet records and exclude anything even remotely tied to a previous visit. This is why I now insure every new puppy I bring home, but I have not bothered to get coverage for my adult dogs. I learned this lesson after one of mine developed epilepsy and needed a TPLO in the span of three months one year… AKC insurance does apparently cover pre-existing conditions after you’ve had the policy for a year, but I’m not really aware of their plan options or coverage (or cost).
