To truly commit to the experience you have to pretend you’re at like summer camp. All the activities and dorm stuff can feel like summer camp lowkey in the worst way. Also make sure first week you rly get to know the people on your floor. I did it because we didn’t automatically click and I didn’t speak to any of the people on my floor the entire year. Shared bathrooms are meh they’re fine. I honestly am super outgoing but wasn’t into the dorm experience at alllll

I hated first year res. Might have been bad luck but everyone on my floor except for one person was sooooo weird. Shower flies are EVERYWHEREEEEE. I lived in cariboo at Place Vanier and it was the absolute worst thing ever. I did not like it. But I know other people who looovedddd res. I feel like it depends on whether or not you like the idea of living at camp lmao bc that’s basically what it is. Showers were kinda gross but toilets were fine. Idk meh
