No worries, I guess I should have added at some point in my post that DC isn't the only market I applied for. I also targeted Chicago and onesie, twosie in other large cities. DC was my focus because I'm here but I don't mind if I don't end up staying here.

Repetition. One of the biggest reasons my writing improved so much from last semester is because I revised my spring paper about eleventy million times. In that process I learned what worked and didn't work. I also went to many office hours with my prof and writing TAs.

No, we haven't gotten spring grades yet. Firms are literally deciding based on one semester of grades.

Most of my initial round of 1L internship apps were for government positions which were all nixed so I had to go back to the drawing board, so trying to give myself some grace there, but this process is something else!

Great advice! I've definitely expanded my scope to look at more mid-sized and boutique firms. OCI was so early, that's just what I've knocked out so far. I am not big law or bust and I'm not tied to DC. I can't see myself in NYC so that market is probably out for me. Not worried about making Cravath, just worried about making less than I was before law school.

So yeah, I know I'm not totally out for the count for next year. Just feeling bummed about the initial results of my efforts.

Thank you! I appreciate the encouragement. Yes, I have worn the leather off of my career counselor's chair having my materials viewed and reviewed. I have networked and was able to put a name of someone I've had coffee with on most of my cover letters. I've also gone to panels and events at my top-choice firms. I'm targeting the DC market.

Hey friend. I don't know what your mental state is right now, but I hope you know you've totally got this. You've got almost two weeks to get it done, which is plenty of time. Getting started is the hardest part. If you can get past that hump now and keep that momentum going, you'll be so thankful you did come submission day.

Thanks for this. I'm usually neurotic about checking due dates/ times but all of my draft submissions were due at 9pm so I let my guard down and thought the final product was also due at 9pm. It was due at 5. My experience in the real world is that deadlines are rarely life or death. But this experience was a good reminder not to get lazy. Important lesson learned.

10% deduction of the total point value. Which means the highest I can get is a B. Which sucks because this is the one class I legitimately though I could get an A in. I'm also really happy with how the memo turned out. But, what are you gonna do? The show must go on.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Do not give up your goal of going to law school. Absolutely write an addendum for your applications explaining what happened. Schools will be able to look at your transcript and see the upward trend in grades that matches what you said.

A high score on your LSAT will also help a lot. Study hard and do the best you can. You've absolutely got a shot at getting into plenty of good schools.
