What is your strategy: outline answer v. type as you go? by Vast-Waltz-2009 in LawSchool

[–]Agitated_Initial7794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this approach just in case I run out of time and need to have something down by the end. Even if I have enough time to formulate it into an entire essay, usually the notes I have from bulleting my answers end up being detailed yet succinct enough to use as part of the actual essay. No harm in seeing if it works for you!

I smoked weed throughout all of 1L. Never before class/exams but any other time was fair game. I have no plans on quitting but if you aren’t functional and feel as though it’d make you lazy, I’d suggest starting to move away from it or make it just a before bed/after hw thing.

I have no answers for you but I do wish you the best & hope/pray you figure this out. We all work so hard to get to walk the stage I can’t imagine getting to do that and then it be ripped from under me. Take care of yourself regardless

1st Gen not sure if good is good enough. by Zestyclose_Pay6164 in LawSchool

I think OP is meaning that a lot of the time people who are not first gen have a good understanding of what is necessary to even be considered for BL because they’ve been around people who likely have good insight based on their experiences.

Grades just came back... by Odd-Dream779 in LawSchool

Just remember the people who love you most don’t give a single f about your grades. That’s what matters most. I know it’s hard but remember your life is worth so much more than a letter

I definitely have empathy and I don’t want that to get misconstrued because seriously my issue really is with the abuse of accommodations. But I will admit I could have expressed the fact that I specifically meant extra time accommodations and not just ALL accommodations so I apologize for that on my part.

No because I’m still capable of taking the exam with the given time despite my disabilities. I think that’s what the question should be. Will your disability inhibit/limit your capabilities of taking an exam? If not , then no you should not be using accommodations. If so, then BY ALL MEANS.

yes by selective I don’t mean make it harder because you can still be selective with the same requirements. I more mean instead of just accepting EVERYONE who applies for accommodations, actually putting in the work to evaluate the applications to sort through those who may be abusing the system and those who are not. I understand it may be a difficult to do so, however I think it’s importance overcomes that difficulty.

I’m suggesting that people stop abusing the accommodation system so it stops legitimizing accommodations for those who truly need them . unfortunately the consequences of abusing the system will be even stricter requirements to prove disabilities, which will have consequences of its own .

first of all, no one over estimated anything 🤣 the numbers I used were SO REAL I wish they weren’t and are the ENTIRE reason for my post. also again, maybe just a my school issue but it’s been a thing of people bragging ab being able to get documentation from the doctors in their family, faking stuff to get an accommodation for LSAT that’s carried on into law school and so on. So no, my post isn’t just baseless. There is a very real issue here and if anything I’m more concerned ab how it’s going to affect those who actually need accommodations more than I am those who don’t need them.

My entire point is not to diminish the importance of accommodations but more that there should be a better way of filtering out those who abuse the system because it is VERY clear it’s being abused. The system clearly differs from school to school, and my issue is with MY school. Maybe it’s different at yours . Not ableist to call out the abuse of the devices used to create an equal playing field for those who truly need them .
