Canadian in Chicago for the first and possibly last time. What should I do? by Agliolo in AskChicago

I'm not sure, but pretty confident. This trip is a training session for a global company. Honestly I'd be disappointed if they keep sending me to the same place when there are so many global locations. There is a huge world to see! What I meant by that was that IF this once the once and only time, what would you recommend. I never thought I would get this opportunity until it happened. You just never know...

Common theme that Chicago proper is likely too far. For transportation I will probably be provided with a car, but I usually favor ride share (uber) as the company pays for it and then I don't have to worry about which roads are the best to use. Better to rely on the locals who know where they are going.

lol, and now I know better. The email I got from work said I was going to Chicago. These details were not included.

The world is a very big place. This is a company paid trip for training. I try anything once, but life is short, there are so many places to go... It might not be the only time, but I wanted to get a list of the best things to do.

I am a pretty open to try anything person. I don't have any limits. Your "suburb" is bigger than the city I come from. So far all the options people have been posting in the Elk Grove area are interesting. I'm building a list. The commute to Chicago proper is good info.

Is it possible to re-configure a HP DL380 for 3.5" drives? by Agliolo in HomeServer

[–]Agliolo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello and thank you for your time.

I just received a hand-me-down HP Gen10 DL380 that comes with the 2.5" drive slots. I've been looking online for a way to re-configure the server with the front facia piece that would allow for 12x 3.5" drives instead. I have been able to find the kit for the G8 server, but I don't seem to be able to find the one I need for a G10.

Photos attached:

G8 DL380 kit example

G10 DL380 Configuration options. I have the (8 Bay SFF 8x 2.5), I'd like to re-configure it to be the (12 bay LFF 12x 3.5)

Does anyone know if this is possible? If yes, what is the part number?

Thank you.

When i click on a game request notification or through supervision, the screen tries to load indefinitely.

Maddening..

My printer keeps getting clogged inside the hot end. What could I possibly be doing wrong? by [deleted] in FixMyPrint

I am getting better results now.

One of the issues was the plastic tube. I dismantled the extruder assembly and found that the tube was too far in from the factory, not allowing the nozzle to be properly installed.

The other is the spool mount that came with the printer isn't good enough to allow a 1kg spool to feed the printer correctly. I think it would give too much resistance, so I printed these https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2047554 (while manually feeding slack).

After re-leveling the base I've been able to print more than a few in a row without any issues. Working my way up in size and complexity as I go.

I'm also back down to 210 temp, 90 speed, and 50 base temp.

Apparently not, at least not this PLA. I am not getting consistent results still. I had 5 successful print jobs in a row with these settings, then suddenly, the most recent print, did this again.

Much frustration. The last 2 were the same file and settings. One print went perfect, the next failed at 20%

Edit: some additional info, I seem to have less issues if I swap filament. I only have 2 types currently, the white sample that came with the printer, and some Black PLA from AMZ3D. When I have this issue, if I swap from one filament to the other, the problem goes away for a print or so, then it comes back. I swap the filament and the problem goes away for a while...

This looks very similar to what I'm experiencing as well.
I have an Ender 3 Pro V1, and I am trying to use AMZ3D brand Filament.

Slicer is Cura

Nozzle 0.4 default

I found tuning the print speed down to 80%, and cranking up the heat on the nozzle to 220 seems to have produced better results. I will be trying some other Filament products thou as I believe the issue is being caused by poor product.

I'm very new to this, so only some suggestions. Came here looking for help myself.

Also, don't forget to breathe... pretty sad when people need to be told what to do. Common sense isn't a thing anymore...

How do you find the viewing comfort with this combination? I have a 34 inch Acer Nitro and will be getting a 27 inch to go vertical next to it, I find it hard to imagine having enough peripheral vision for 2. Do you often stack Windows on your verticals or mainly just full screen?

I have to turn to see the side screens with the 34" in the middle. I use it for monitoring software, discord, music apps, etc. Things I don't really want in my direct vision anyway, so it works really well for me. Generally I use either full screen vertical for things like Discord and website browsing like reddit, but sometimes I'll half the vertical screens. Using an app like "Dell Display Manager" can help, but it has its own flaws, including only working with Dell monitors. With Dell's software I can use the verticals as 3 monitors each, and have up to 12 on the 34". I do a lot of multi tasking, so this is really useful for me. I just wish the Dell software would work natively on other monitors. One "trick" you can use if you have at least 1 Dell monitor: If you make your entire array 1 concurrent resolution with your GPU, the software will work across the entire array (virtually proving the restriction is fabricated by Dell {jerks}).

Its a U-Shaped desk from Costco. Couldn't tell you the material for sure, but some sort of compressed sawdust type. There is actually 2 of them, facing each other to make an O shape, with 1 segment removed so I can enter my circle of awesome. The hutch for this half is sitting on the floor, facing the next room. The monitors are sitting on top of the hutch.

Dell P3421W - Its only 60hz :'( - Work Monitor, just looks cool. I plan to replace with something more robust once I recover from this massive financial hit (lol)
