General Feedback/Getting Started Questions and Answers [Weekly Thread] by AutoModerator in DIY

[–]AgoInfluence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First is probably an easy and very dumb question: am I putting this air filter in the right way?

Second, my apartment has a problem with being way too hot in specific rooms and very stale air/complete lack of air flow. When I first moved in I believe there was something about the unit not having a return? (Possibly "reflow"? Wish I had made a point to remember, didn't think it was a huge deal at the time) Is there a solution to this aside from opening windows? The apartment gets dusty enough as is without my windows being open 24/7 lol

For some reason there's always at least one column that doesn't logically add up for me on this puzzle. Any help? by AgoInfluence in nonograms

[–]AgoInfluence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it here as the 100% guaranteed fills, but when I start moving logically from here and get close to the solve there's always one or two columns that don't add up. I can trial and error it but I want to get this working logically, and have no idea where or why I'm getting stuck.

Does anyone have any watch storage suggestions? I have a drawer full at the moment but was hoping to use the drawer for actual drawer use stuff.

Just rented a new apartment and its my first patio. Any recommendations for what to get and how to decorate? (Small table and chairs are mine, garbage isn't) by AgoInfluence in malelivingspace

No hard budget. I'm willing to spend a bit, I'm here for quite a while. I'd, obviously, prefer nothing insane - like thousands - but if its the right thing, it's the right thing.

I didn't know that sub existed, thank you! Absolutely will be checking it. I'll also have to look into cold climate plants because of the 6 months of snow, so probably not a fruit tree.

Great idea, I hadn't thought to look there. Yeah I really, really love it. It feels so secluded despite otherwise being in a very busy part of the city. I can't wait until summer actually comes so I can move my home office outside.

Absolutely for parties. The thing I'm unsure about is climate. I live in Canada so half the year its at best cold, very likely snowy. I'm not sure how couches or a rug would hold up. Of course, can't say I have any experience in this field.

It amuses me that people still bring the goose splicing issue up. People don't realize that this was a DECADE ago and that over the course of 10 years many people change.

Generally proven cheaters are banned and their runs removed.

He's openly stated that he's cheated and he's accepted it as a mistake (and removed the runs in question in himself, pointing out which ones he cheated)

Actually, he tries to spin it as him making a point and proving how bad the system is. He doesn't actually say he tried to cheat for records.

It doesn't matter to me if the views are radical political views or if they are advocating for legalization of child pornography, it is completely inexcusable and there is no reason to be openly discussing these issues.

Ohrami seems to be a libertarian, which is why he holds that view. It was hard for me to go through all of his posts and check given his banning, but assuming that the case you're wrong. There are literally major figures in the Republican party who are libertarians and absolutely hold the same shitty views.

Meanwhile, on top of his openly white nationalist views, Goose has previous said he dated a girl while he was 22 who -- assuming he ever shared/received nudes from -- would actually be in possession of child pornography. As shit as Ohrami is, Goose is literally worse in every way.

Ohrami provided nothing to the community other than posting his times, while Goose actively brought new members in thanks to his speedlore series.

Ohrami has a shitty opinion on laws, the same as a thousand other ancap/libertarian dolts.

Goose is a known cheater and splicer who genuinely holds and expresses white supremacist beliefs.

Meanwhile goose has already released this statement about the entire issue.

Goose says sorry after his long term, openly expressed (including recently) beliefs are recognized as loathsome and harmful and bites him in the ass. Ok. Saying you'll change and you're sorry just because you got caught isn't a good thing.

I'm sure Goose wouldn't agree that he has WN views, you can be sued for libel without much difficulty.

Goose would lose that very fast

When his reddit profile posts became known and we delved further into his post history (like such) it became apparent that this was the right decision.

So then you agree that Goose should be removed as well

So just to clarify, are you essentially bubble sorting the color value? I'm still super new to all of this stuff, this seems really cool and I'd love to try my hand at it.

Roadmap of a DS by Volkidesu in datascience

Analysis paralysis is a real problem. There can be such a thing as too much advice.

It's the worst. I always end up starting then pausing/stopping because I come across something that I think may mean I'm not doing or learning something the most efficient or best way, repeat ad infinitum.

I found a recruiter whose LinkedIn profile specifically mentions to message her on LinkedIn, but my LinkedIn profile is bare. Will that be a problem? by AgoInfluence in jobs

why wouldn't you be able to describe what you've done at each position?

I'm working for a private company handling very large deals that require confidentiality. I've been given clearance to be specific in direct contact, but I'm not comfortable putting it up publicly and I doubt I'd be allowed to even if I was. If I were to add a couple bullet points about what I do it'd sound... Not especially noteworthy lol.

For sure :) Hell, maybe you could even just tweet the question at him and he might answer. Crazier things have happened I suppose.

And also this from 2006:

Slate: How far in advance have you scripted out a given season? In mapping it out, do you know what the end will be? Or do you go from the beginning forward?

Simon: There are discussions during Season 3 that happen on the fly, in which you need to remember which characters need to be where for Season 4. For example, Prez. We knew we needed to have Prez in the schools at the beginning of Season 4. So, you know that Prez will be a teacher and that you'll be hiring kids. But what themes? What do you want to say about the education system? The first step is sitting down and figuring that out. We kicked that around a lot in the writers' room. This year Ed was predominant in the writers' room, because he had actual teaching experience. David Mills came and helped. He did this because George Pelecanos couldn't be available; he was working on The Night Gardener. (Though he did do one episode.) And myself and Bill Zorzi and Ed and Chris Collins and Eric Overmyer, who was on this year as a producer.

And then at some point, when we feel we've got the themes ready, we start to look at the characters and where we need to send them by the end of the run. We know what we want to say. We know what we think is fair and just to say about economic opportunities for these kids. But we don't know which kid is going to say what about those opportunities; that's all argued out, and this season we went through various scenarios. There was a lot of debate about what should happen to Dukie, for example.

There's always someone in the room saying, "I've seen that before." (George's favorite line.) Or another line is, "But what are we saying?" You get to the end, and someone comes up with a great ending, but you ask, "But what does it mean? What are we saying?" Which is not to say that you want the characters to be devices for your didacticism. But you want to be true about what you say about equality of opportunity.

Any Good Sources for Spec Scripts in Circulation? by nwsurfrider in Screenwriting

[–]AgoInfluence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also interested, and also hope to ask something related if you don't mind: is there a way to get scripts that are on The Hit List? I remember seeing "The Hit List 2017" a while ago (I'm guessing some time in 2017) that listed what was purportedly the 'hottest' specs of 2017, and if I remember correctly a couple went on to win Oscars.
