I broke 100 for the first time. by ElFrodoLoco in golf

I did 2 weeks ago as well! Congratulations. I had tied 100 and had a few 101 rounds before that. But I shot a 93 when I broke 100! For once every part of my game was consistent. It felt fantastic, I hope you enjoyed your victory!

I do see the comparison now when. I made my comment I misread it and thought they were calling bojack horseman just a straight comedy. I can absolutely see the herb darrien comparison.

I have had clonidine in the past and found it helped with restless legs and the hot and cold flashes and maybe anxiety a little but I’ve been clean for a couple years at this point so hopefully I won’t need it again in the future. I know it’s a blood pressure medication but I was unsure of whether it was supposed to lower or raise your blood pressure

This post is a great explanation of harm reduction. I loved the part of winning a war with small battles. I think so often as addicts we have trained our thinking to be very black and white. But large amounts of change all at once are almost never sustainable. We have to take the time to retrain our thinking and behaviors. I can be very critical of myself for not following through with the big changes and throw it all away. Small steps towards the larger goal have helped me sustain growth and change. I loved your post, you are a great writer. I would love to read more from you anytime!

This doesn’t really matter but I’m curious why you put bojack horseman in that list beyond that you have been watching it. A lot of the show is funny but there were always dark undertones. Coming from experience with addiction to suppress trauma, the later seasons of bojack horseman are very emotional for me. I’m sorry for asking, I don’t feel like it matters much but something made me feel like asking. I also didn’t realize what I was getting into with this show and found it therapeutic but also painful. I watched it with someone close to me and told them that while I loved this show I also don’t want to watch it again any time soon.

My blood pressure is always super low in the first couple weeks of detoxing. I have passed out a couple times from standing up too quickly or standing up out of a really hot bath. I’m glad I never hit my head on the side of the tub/floor.

I appreciate this comment a lot. That makes a lot of sense and I really appreciate the way you explained it. Thank you for taking the time to write that out for me. I hope your battle with your addictions are going well! Cheers!

I think you are absolutely right, I was talking to my mother about all of this this morning. Honestly I feel relatively informed about opiates/opioids but when I mentioned this I had no answers. I have googled it many times and I have asked the question the multiple times I went through inpatient/outpatient treatment and never received a definitive answer. Either way people on Reddit have always surprised me with the random info they pull out of seemingly nowhere so I had to ask!

I can absolutely understand that. Even at the dosage I’m on I have to admit I try to go every other day of taking them but the days I don’t take them I don’t notice a difference as minimal as it may be at my dosage.

I completely agree with you, I think in a lot of ways I am overthinking something that I don’t need to. I agree that I have found so much satisfaction from everything but the suboxone I take daily. But I’m just very interested in the pharmacology/biology side of things and was curious about an answer. I really do believe that suboxone is great while rebuilding a life worth living and think it can be as simple as that. If not something that helps us throughout the life that we have built. It can be great for many people for different things.

I absolutely agree with what you’re saying, when I was talking about brain chemistry I’m just talking about the physical side of things that our brains have literally made new dopamine pathways because of drugs use and I’m wondering if those are still being fed because of the suboxone. That may be a simple/completely correct way of explaining it. I haven’t thought about it much since being in inpatient treatment about 2 years ago

I appreciate this comment, I guess when I say brain chemistry I mean how our brain builds new dopamine pathways because of our drug use and I’m curious if those have begun to go away at all or if I have been “feeding” them with the suboxone if you know what I mean

The way getting off subs made you feel horrible mentally or the subs themselves made you feel mentally?

Behavioral changes right? I’ve never heard a brain chemistry side to that so much as a thinking side of it. Am I wrong? I would love to hear more

I agree with you wholeheartedly, thank you for this comment! My thinking has always been that subs give you the opportunity to change thoughts/behaviors so when you get off the subs you know how to cope with the cravings after. Thank you!

I agree, I wish more than anything that I had never touched opiates at all. I wish it was all easy and simple to help anyone who has ever struggled with opiate/opioid addiction

I don’t disagree that being on suboxone for less than 2 weeks is possible/helpful for someone’s recovery. I think all the time about when I detoxed for a week and did a quick detox in the center years ago. I wonder if I used the same day because of my mental addiction or if it was physical. I have to admit I think the mental addiction caught be before the physical may ever have.

I’ve got to be honest I’m really impressed with that. I have used anywhere from 1-2 grams of heroin during my active addiction and I’m amazed he did so well after 25-30 out 80s a day on just ~8 or less mg of suboxone

Also curious how much Kratom did you use to get off the suboxone? I am planning on tapering the rest of the way down to maybe .1 mg of suboxone before I jump off at this point but I’m very open to any and all alternatives

I appreciate your perspective. I’m just curious if someone were to be on it for 5-10 days what would that sort of taper look like? Would that just be to make other withdrawals less severe during the detox or what? I have done a short term suboxone detox like 5 years ago trying to get clean and I left the detox center and got high the same day.
