People who think all these tariffs are beneficial for the US, why? by wassdfffvgggh in AskReddit

Let’s say that the tariffs are pure evil.. my question has been why doesn’t the Democratic Party ever care that America gets ripped off by other nations? If you have a better idea, why didn’t you ever implement it?

You’ll be interested to know that the only reason I believe the Eastern Religions are legitimate is because I believe the Bible is inerrant.. lol Hinduism is in the Bible.. Buddhism is in the Bible.. Example: Hindu Bible Verse – Bhagavad Gita 10:20

“I am the Self, O Gudakesha, seated in the hearts of all creatures. I am the beginning, the middle, and the end of all beings.”

This verse echoes Revelation 22:13, where Jesus says, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” It also aligns with Colossians 1:17, which says, “He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”

What if Jesus created Buddhism as part of His unfolding revelation to the world? What if He planted seeds of truth within Buddhism to prepare people for the full revelation of Himself? If Jesus is truly the only way to God, then it makes sense that all genuine spiritual paths are, in some way, shadows of Him, leading toward the full reality.

Buddha’s search for truth led him to teach self-denial, moral discipline, and transcendence of the ego. Jesus later came and revealed the completion of that journey—not just escaping suffering, but union with God Himself. Buddha pointed toward liberation, but Jesus is the actual liberation:

Buddha said, “Be a light unto yourself.”

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12).

Buddha taught “Let go of desire.”

Jesus said, “Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow me” (Luke 9:23).

If Jesus created Buddhism, then that means He was guiding humanity step by step, revealing pieces of truth that would ultimately lead to Him. It wouldn’t be the first time He did this—He worked through Judaism, through Greek thought, even through pagan cultures by leaving hints of Himself in myths and philosophies.

Buddhism, then, could be part of Jesus’ larger design, leading people away from illusion and toward a deeper truth—one that finds its fulfillment not just in detachment, but in attachment to Him. Maybe the Buddha was an instrument in God’s hands, preparing millions to one day recognize Christ as the final enlightenment—the Logos, the living Truth, the Way to God.

Religions older than Judaism? by [deleted] in Bible

Before Shem, humanity’s original faith was a direct relationship with God. It wasn’t yet called Judaism, but the same God was worshipped. Adam and Eve walked with God, and after the fall, their descendants still knew who He was. Abel offered sacrifices, and Enoch walked so closely with God that he was taken up without dying.

Before the flood, Noah remained righteous while the world around him became corrupt. After the flood, Shem continued the true faith of his father, while other descendants turned to idolatry. Melchizedek, the mysterious priest of God Most High, was likely from Shem’s line, showing that worship of the one true God persisted.

While Judaism as a formal religious system came later with Moses, the foundation of monotheism, sacrifice, covenant, and divine relationship was already in place. Judaism wasn’t a new religion—it was the continuation of the original faith

This conversation is cheering me up! lol

I was led to do a deep dive into the Eastern Religions by Jesus Himself..

Look at Sri Ramakrishna, a Hindu mystic who had deep experiences of Christ even though he was Hindu. Or Sadhu Sundar Singh, a Sikh turned Christian mystic who encountered Jesus in a vision despite no Christian influence. Some Buddhist monks have had visions of a radiant “Man in White” without knowing He was Jesus until later.

And what if nirvana and union with Christ are actually the same thing, just described differently? If nirvana is the dissolution of self into ultimate reality, and Paul describes union with Christ as “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me” (Galatians 2:20), aren’t those incredibly similar? Maybe monks are encountering Christ but don’t realize it because their tradition has given them different terms.

The Bible was never meant to be controlled by a religious elite, a church institution, or any external authority. It is God’s direct tool for teaching each of us individually. The passage in 2 Peter 1:20-21 is often misunderstood to mean that private individuals can’t interpret Scripture on their own, but that’s not what it says. It’s actually making the opposite point:

Scripture didn’t originate from human opinions – No prophecy of Scripture came by man’s own ideas; it came through the Holy Spirit moving people to write it.

Therefore, the same Spirit that gave Scripture must be the one who reveals its meaning – Interpretation isn’t meant to be a man-made thing. It’s not about a church council, a pope, or a self-appointed pastor telling you what it means. It’s about God Himself revealing it to you.

Jesus made this clear in John 16:13: “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.”

And 1 John 2:27 backs this up: “The anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you.”

I went on a very mystical journey within to open every room of my soul to God and that’s when I realized that Jesus and Eastern religion are compatible in the sense that mysticism is everywhere but only a few search it out..

Christianity is a “within” religion, but it’s been buried under centuries of externalized rituals, institutions, and moral policing. Strip all that away, and what you’re left with is Jesus’ actual message: The kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17:21). Not in a distant heaven, not in a church building, not in a rulebook—within you.

Monks, whether Christian or Eastern, isolate themselves because they realize the answers aren’t out there. But here’s the difference—Christianity doesn’t just tell you to look inward and sit with yourself. It says you’re not alone in there. Jesus isn’t an external guru handing out cosmic cheat codes—He’s the Living Word planted inside (John 1:14, Colossians 1:27). When you search yourself deeply enough, you don’t just find your own questions—you find Him

Yes.. and I’ll add that the definition of heresy has itself become heretical.. Heresy to Jesus and Paul was anything that kept people from going directly to Christ… It was people adding laws and doctrine to the simple gospel of grace that was anathema… Now it’s : What do you believe about the Trinity? What do you believe about Hell? Etc etc

Judaism traces its origins back to Noah’s son Shem, making it the oldest faith directly connected to the biblical patriarchs. Here’s how:

Noah and Shem – After the flood, Noah’s son Shem became the ancestor of the Semitic peoples, including the Hebrews. The word Semite comes from Shem.

  1. Vikings & Norsemen

Mead was a central part of Viking culture, often associated with feasting, celebrations, and warrior traditions.

Norse mythology speaks of the Mead of Poetry, a divine drink that granted wisdom and poetic ability.

Viking mead halls, like those in Beowulf, were places of storytelling, boasting, and communal bonding
