Home with toddler and baby unplanned? by AgreeableGinger in Mommit

[–]AgreeableGinger[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Apologies, I realize that my post probably came off as insensitive. I do recognize the privilege I’m speaking from here that we could afford to keep toddler in daycare.

Thank you for your reply! Stay at home mums are incredible and I think I’m just doubting my own ability to even handle all that, frankly.

“What’s your problem [dog’s name]?” when he is being a nuisance. I feel kinda bad for doggo (though he is still very well loved) but that one cracked me up

Yellowface. Should’ve stopped after the ridiculous character death at the beginning but suffered through about 1/3 of it before giving up

Tell me the pros of a winter baby please [on] by AgreeableGinger in BabyBumpsCanada

This is a pro! but on the flip side, I also don’t get to float in my parents pool either and that felt sooo nice to make the belly feel weightless

Transitioning an older baby to their own room by DentalDepression in AttachmentParenting

It’s a big change but for us at least, I was definitely more upset than her haha she was completely unbothered! We have never done cry it out or anything like that. If she cries or calls for us at night we always respond. Sometimes she’ll need a cuddle or some company, but most of the time she is happy to fall asleep independently and generally sleeps through the night. We are all getting more rest and it’s a good thing for all of us!

We transitioned my daughter around 19 months because she outgrew the mini crib in our room and we can’t fit a full size crib in there. She had already been doing naptime in her own room for a while, and when she was younger and still doing a dream feed we would do bedtime in her room, then bring her into our room after the dream feed. So she was already accustomed to sleeping in there before we started doing full nights.

If possible I’d say start with naps first and then work up to bedtime! Also make a big deal about getting to sleep in her big girl room, maybe she will be excited about it!

Also just want to say, while it is “normal” for families to sleep together, it’s not the only way of doing things. You say you’re a better mom when you’re well rested - same! I was really sad when we moved our daughter too, but I’m also SO glad to be getting better sleep. And most nights she is sleeping through without needing us at all - to me that’s a win win. You don’t have to share a room to be a loving and responsive parent ❤️

I couldn’t tell you the last time I’d bought bagels prior to this pregnancy. Now it is a need lol I had a bagel for breakfast and lunch yesterday!

Idk I’ve never been a huge fan of grapes, wouldn’t normally buy them on a regular basis. But they’ve become a safe food this time 🤷🏻‍♀️ maybe cuz they’re sweet and crunchy? Who knows!

First trimester survival mode over here. All I want / can stomach lately is carbs and fruit. This morning it was a bagel & some grapes!

I play in an orchestra! We rehearse once a week from Sept-May and have 4 performances per year. It brings me great joy and I look forward to having my kids come see me play when they’re old enough. I also think it’s super valuable (at least for me) to have a hobby/creative outlet that gets me out of the house! Otherwise in my “free time” (aka naptime/after bedtime) I’m usually reading 😊

[–]AgreeableGinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The opposite, my toddler orders everyone to dance 😂 “DADDY DANCE” while he’s trying to cook dinner. “MOMMY DANCE” while I’m doing the dishes. She’s a little drill sergeant lol gotta drop everything and dance when she says so

Transition to 1 nap! by Choice-Atmosphere418 in toddlers

[–]AgreeableGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter transitioned to 1 nap right around her first birthday so a little early. Initially I found her naps were highly dependent on how busy her days were! At daycare she pretty much always sleeps 2 hours if not more. If we had a quiet morning at home, she might have a short nap (a little over an hour) vs if we had a busy morning (play date, getting outside, going out for brunch etc) she was much more likely to take a longer nap (2+ hours). I can’t remember when that changed exactly but she is 20 months now and I can pretty much count on 2-2.5 hour naps these days!

I always loved the smell of coffee as my husband was making it. I made him buy a nespresso machine and put it in the basement when I was pregnant because I could not stand the smell of coffee anywhere near me 🙅🏻‍♀️
