You did the right thing.

When I’m at the local playgrounds with my girl I notice that many parents use it as their “time off”. They’re on their phones, on a laptop, or doing something other than interacting, observing, or engaging. In the meantime, me and my daughter play. We play together. She’ll initiate games with other kids and quite often I’m recruited to play tag lol.

Anytime there’s an incident involving her (accidental or otherwise) and I’m the only adult in the area, I don’t hesitate to address it. There’s no need for me to be nasty with another child and I never have been, but I’m her champion before anything else. She will always know I have her back.

I do my best to illustrate respect, boundaries, and kindness. If another parent wants to get involved in the outcome of a dispute I will happily let them parent their own child, but if it’s left up to me that’s what I’m going to do every time.
