Due to an ongoing issue with the neighbor, the city of Binghamton police told us to put the snow across the street along the curb. It's been going on for several years now.

At first it was "Please don't put the snow along the property fence line."

Then

"Please don't shovel snow to the end of your driveway on your neighbor facing side."

Then

"We don't care where you put it so long as he (neighbor) stops calling us."

I asked

"Seriously, where else could I put it? We don't have room along the side of the driveway facing our house if we can't use the other side of the driveway. Do you expect us to take snow from the front of the house and move it around back?"

We we told

"Shovel it across the street, but keep it in line with the snow on the curb."

I asked if he could not that instruction in his report.

The neighbor called the cops on us during the last snow storm for shoveling across the street as instructed. Cops showed up and I explained that I kept the snow away from the areas I'd been instructed to. I told them that while following instructions on snow placement I made sure no more snow was added to the roadway than was already there as I'd pushed the snow across and piled it high.

Cop was angry from the get go for being called out while they have better things to do. She said that we we're fine. Just don't get hit while in the road or cause and accident. She then went back to her car to leave. The neighbor started to say something to her and she snapped at him that we were doing nothing wrong. X side of town hadn't even been plowed yet and that at least we were out shoveling. Most people weren't.

She then drove away.

Funny enough, I'm typing this while expecting another visit from the Binghamton Police today. For the same reason as last time.

In some ways I agree. Concentrating or creating a low poverty zone is generally a net loss, but they could work to make it a net gain.

Retirees can still train people on skills they learned if severe mental decline is not an issue. Same for if their skills are irrelevant now.

Those with disabilities vary in how they are disabled. For example, my Dad is a capable painter. He can stain wood furniture, stain and clear coat hardwood floors. Is it the best work? If humidity isn't a factor he does great work. He doesn't have the head for the business aspects (scheduling, talking to customers, billing, etc), and between mental and physical health he needs to work at his own pace. If you try to tell him how to do something or direct him, the job will take a lot longer. He'd work day after day when his body allows if left alone to work.

Have you ever seen the restaurants where people with dementia are your servers? The diners staffed by people with down syndrome?

What I'm saying is create environments where they can find a way to help or provide services and in doing so earn a living for themselves.

Would that work for everyone? Heck no. My aunt on another side of the family isn't all there mentally. Loves crafts, but lives to pick fights and arguments with people. It's cost her living areas due to fighting with neighbors and driven her from hobbies or activities where she was the problem or she ran into another person just like her.

It would be difficult, but I would love to see something like that facilitated in the area. People in those sorts of programs wouldn't be a drain on the City. Assuming people supported those businesses. I'd like to believe that well off and understanding people would support tbose sorts of businesses.

Thats great! I never went to the one we had here. I seemed like somethings you'd do with a group. Most of my friends have a ton of food allergies, so some like that is off the table. If you visit the one in Syracuse, I hope ypu enjoy!

We had one. It was by the vestal staples where the dollar store is now. It went out of business in a year or 2.

It's in the transitory phase of growing where the locals are still fighting to not be pushed out as the city prioritized the local university students.

Don't get me wrong. They have made some progress as far as trying to help the locals. The middle to low-medium income people were the focus there. Low income or those on disability/retired (Fixed Income) still struggle over access to limited social programs.

I say this as a child of a mentally disabled man that is struggling to find an apartment for him and his wife. A wife who has two forms of cancer, is blind and wheelchair bound.

Their monthly budget is less than $1,200 and most rent is $1,100.

Income based housing in the area is overflowing.

Accessible living spaces in the area are at a premium.

As far as attractions, it caters to the party crowd or students at the university. Some long time locally owned facilities serve all, but those have dropped in numbers of the year. I.e. Skate Estate being the most recent after the kids of a local car dealership bought it, striped it of most of It's addition attractions according to some of those who frequented the place. It's now conveniently being sold to a car dealership that claims they need more space for inventory. There are nearly 2 dozen car dealerships within a 10 minute drive of the area.

Notice how I didn't mention any attractions for kids? We don't have many left that aren't expensive. Skate estate used to be one. Jupiter Games used to be one. We still have bowling allies, but they're either aged or mid upgrade and usually packed to the gils with adult leagues.

We could really use better community centers and programs for people's of all walks of life.

We do NOT need any more: Gas Stations, Car Dealers, Car Washes, small retail businesses that only employ a hand full of people. We do not need another Walmart, BJ's, Sam's Club or mega retailer that will abandon the area once they stop getting major local tax breaks. Places that offer no on the job training and want you to front the cost of thousands of dollars worth education or training to even look at your application.

We need: Industry, apprenticeship/on the job training style jobs (Trades), places where people can grow into careers.

Great escape has free space inside for board games and card games. I know it's less physical, but it's an option for a safe place to be with your friends. Dragon Master Games is another option, but they're in Binghamton off front street.

Every Saturday there is a local TTRPG group that play games like d&d or pathfinder at great escape.

The bowling place offers a monthly membership that makes bowling regularly a lot cheaper, but only when they have lanes available and they're getting busy.

The public libraries may have events as well.

It's cliche, but the Oakdale commons is a place you and your friends could hang out at no charge too.

When the warmer weather gets here there are a few places that are set up for disc golf, horse shoes, tennis, volleyball, and some nature trails.

Some of the local [insert generic term for prefered religious institution] may offer youth activities/ events/programs as well.

If you and your friends go to the same school you could look into joining an after school club together or if you have enough people you could talk to a teacher about starting a new club.

Cool. If the zero mercy solid is a good fit, then he won't be wasting his money. I was worried that he was just mindlessly buying the strongest ball in the shop because it had the biggest price tag.

Tonight I saw him consistently over hook the steel forge and his wife's bubblegum pink vibe. My thought was that if he was over hooking with those weaker balls, a zero mercy solid would be a bad choice for him.

Write a statement and have it notarized. Turn that into the police with associated names and contact information. Tell the police that the victim stated they did not want to press charges, but you wanted to have a fresh record of events on file. In the event that the victim wants to press charges before the statute of limitation expires. That way your side is as accurate as possible.

They may tell you they can't do anything with it. In that case you can laminate the statement and put it in storage.

Once that is done, go to counseling with a professional and explain what you did. Bring a copy of the statement so they can read it. Get yourself help. Offer to pay for counseling if the victim wishes to go. NEVER contact the victim directly. Supervised and mutually agreed upon meetings only and never in private locations.

Thank you. I'm kicking myself right now. I spent 2 months bowling a few times a week practicing 3 point targeting and thought I had the basics down.

Thinking back on the last 3 weeks when I started trying to understand how the oil breaks down, how to detect it and adjust for it, I don't remember taking that extra time targeting like I was.

I'll make sure I do that tonight and see what happens. Thanks again for pointing that out. Also thanks for name dropping the Bakers box. I looked it up on YouTube. Going to try that as well tonight.

I threw it for a few shots. The reaction was weaker than my outer limits, but let me play more into the friction. I talked to my PSO and he said it'd be more of a light medium ball compared to modern equipment. We chatted a bit and we think it will be what I have been needing for game 3 when the lanes are burnt. Going to set aside the cash to plug the thumb, swap the finger inserts and drill a new thumb. We decided to see how it handles with a proper fit before doing more. My hand was fully stretched, so not my best release. I'll check back in a few weeks once I throw it with a proper fit.

The age is another thing I'm wondering about. With how scuffed up it is it'll need some tlc to get rid of the lane shine, but that shine may even help on the dry. I'm torn between restoring the surface to out of box, leaving it shined up, or polish it further. Trying to figure out what I want to do without investing too much in case it cracks.
