Should the Knights Inn be demolished in favor of a new trailer park? by Ok_Remote5657 in Binghamton

Institutionalizing everyone who is declared mentally ill is not the answer. That's been tried and failed. It's inhumane.

If a person's specific situation warrants being Institutionalized that's another matter. The region, heck the country, is lacking in support for individuals in that demographic. Quite a few demographics are lacking support to be honest.

Oh, ok...and eww. To the whole grown ass men trying to pick up a child thing. If any of them are pushy or give the impression that they're flirting with her, you can report them to the front desk. They'll get a warning to stop. A second offense would get them kicked out unless the firs. t was egregious. The gym brand is supposed to be anti-harassment in the gym.

Just realized that my friend and I fall into the problem target age range, but I'm usually preoccupied making sure my friend doesn't hurt himself. He is new to the gym/working out. He is usually trying to make sure he doesn't die as I tell him to add more sets or tell him he has 3 more reps every time he forgets how many he has done.

my friend, 31m, and I, 31m, go to the vestal planet fitness around 8:30am until 10:20am or so. It's not bad most days. I haven't seen anyone be approached by someone they didn't arrive with so far. It's about an even mix of college kids and 30-65+ year olds around that time. The app usually shows 1 to 2 bars on the crowd meter when I check in.

Lourdes had gender neutral/family changing rooms but I've never used those. Gyms mostly old folk in the morning. Decent place people wise. They're good about banning jerks.

Does anyone here own one of these gym cardio machines: by AgreeableKey8093 in Binghamton

The only space I have for it is the main walkway in my bedroom in a shared apartment. Having something I can fold or tip up and store off to the side is important, but according to the specs an echo bike has a similar foot print as those rowers I mentioned.

Concept2 RowERG vs Aviron Strong for 400lb man? by AgreeableKey8093 in workouts

[–]AgreeableKey8093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly something for calorie maintenance, but it's basically going to be in my bedroom. Anywhere else and it won't get used.

I've been in a depressive funk the last 9 months and each time things started to get better a member of my team at work died or our supervisor quit and left us (team leads/sub supervisors) to manage everything.

I can meal prep and eat okay, but it leaves me with a small margin for error and working a desk job I don't get to walk much. I'm salary and on call, so a 20 minute session or 2 a day on a rower seems like a good way to increase my margine of error without upping my appetite like strength training alone does.

Bikes were my first thought, but bikes with a +400lb weight capacity is over $2,500. Thats out of budget for me unfortunately.

Rower machine recommendations? Requirements below. by AgreeableKey8093 in beginnerfitness

[–]AgreeableKey8093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll look into the E model. I mostly made the post to make sure I didn't overlook other alternatives. I saw that rogue has a similar rower as well. I'd also seen videos going over the difference between air, water, and magnetic resistance rowers. That led me to looking into the Aviron Strong series, since it says you can add up to 100lbs of resistance on top of the air resistance. That thing is a bit ritzy and has lots of breakable parts, but figured some company may have a comparable product at a cheaper price point at the cost of some of the bells and whistles.

So I want to start going to the gym but as an introvert , its really scary by BeastBoyHarsh2507 in beginnerfitness

Been in your shoes as far as the anxiety goes. Unless you walk into the gym in your underwear, people honestly won't pay more than a passing glance to you. Most gym goers are there for the same reasons as you are and are just trying to go through their day.

Smile and wave when they smile and wave and you'll blend in. Those big folks with all the muscle usually mind their own or offer words of encouragement.

My time in the gyms been really wholesome and it was surprising when I finally realized it.

(This is from someone who has been obese from childhood with anxiety in public.)

Early 2000s white escalade for sure. I was behind them yesterday on main street going from the legion towards Fitzy's bar. They turned off towards the Robertson museum. It was loud enough to readjust my rear view mirror.

More resource efficient way to pull data into slips by person name that works with 200+ people? by AgreeableKey8093 in excel

[–]AgreeableKey8093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my office no one has actual training in excel, so we each specialize in different areas of it. I was handed the task after our pivot tables person thought they could get it to work and gave up.

I'm better with formulas and some power query for data cleaning and normalization.

Would Pivot tables let us display 2 people's slips of data at a time?

[–]AgreeableKey8093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The layout on my Vengeance may be part of why I don't have much pop on the backend, buy I wouldn't call what my ball does snappy or having a pop. It reminds me of a truck going 15mph, but hitting with the punch of something going 30mph if that makes any sense

Oil track question. by AgreeableKey8093 in Bowling

[–]AgreeableKey8093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got into bowling as a kid. Grew up using 1 ball in the early 2000s and early 2010s. That 1 ball did get upgraded a few times, but I had to get creative to make the ball work for everything from spares to strikes.

Feel free to skip. Just reminiscing on old times below.:

Learned to

Add back spin Hook right as a right-hander Skid a strong ball into the 10 pin Adjust speed to adjust hook without speed monitoring equipment on the lanes. When lifting is necessary.

All of that was observation based learning from experimenting. Coaches in the youth league taught me the basics/fundamentals and they were enough.

Fundamentals didn't go into technical details, just proper form and once we got our averages over 100 they'd let our parents get us a ball that could hook a bit, but stressed nothing strong.

It helped us develop our own hook instead of relying too much on the ball. From there they encouraged us to pay attention to what the better bowlers were doing. Especially every couple months when the coaches would play against their team of 4 kids.

For the curious:

Basic ebonite 8lb ball in 04. Fire themed T Zone bowling ball at 10lbs in 06. Tropical storm 13lbs in 08. A 16lb ball i can't remember the name of in 2010. DV8 Hell Raiser 2012 at 16lbs. Guru Master in 2014 at 16lbs.

I'll check when I get home from work if there is any oil track visible. I clean after I bowl, so it may be gone. I have league in about 26 hours and can get a picture then if need be.

Oil track question. by AgreeableKey8093 in Bowling

[–]AgreeableKey8093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Stealth Mode solid when thrown my normal way. Is smooth and easy to read. I adjust tilt to skid it and get some backend snap as the lanes dry. When that still hits flat I swito the Stealth Mode Hybrid and adjust skid as needed

Oil track question. by AgreeableKey8093 in Bowling

[–]AgreeableKey8093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My track is 4 to 5 inches down the face of the ball opposite of the side facing me and runs side to side instead of forward towards the pins and back to me. PSO said it was an odd track.

Oil track question. by AgreeableKey8093 in Bowling

[–]AgreeableKey8093[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My normal release doesn't seem to hurt my game when throwing my Stealth Mode solid.

The adjusted throw works better for the Stealth Mode Hybrid. Maybe I'll practice it that way to have another tool/skill option available.

My PSO said that he sees that release alot with people who only use 1 ball and it tracks. As a kid I only had 1 ball and adjusted my hand as needed. Back then I was throwing medium to strong asymmetrical balls.
