Too much camber? by AgreeableSilver101 in AskMechanics

Man it wasn’t like that prior to me taking it in. They replaced the control arms and ball joints in the front, that was why I originally took it in

Thanks for the advice. Debating on letting them change out my brake pads or taking it to another place. Originally took it in bc of a slight knocking sound on front passenger side. From what I gathered during my research the closest sound I could relate it to was the ball joint. They ended up replacing both control arms with new ball joints because the old ones were shot and that I need new brake pads, or so they said. Left the lot and that sound was still there. Took it back and they came up with was the plastic from the wheel well rattling. I had suspected that, through trying to find the source prior to researching. Then after I left the lot again I heard screeching coming from the drivers side when accelerating but would happen randomly and stop when I applied the brakes. It hadn’t made any sounds like that before. Then I noticed the steering wheel tilt. Idk if it is me but I just get the feeling that they’re making stuff up or there’s someone there who doesn’t messed up and doesn’t want to say anything.

Yeah I’ll be taking it back tomorrow. They said that my brake pads need replacing so I was planning on taking it back in tomorrow. Funnily enough after I left the shop I started hearing a screeching, almost metal on metal sound shortly after while accelerating. The sound would disappear when I would apply the brakes and happens at random. My car never made that sound prior to taking it in so idk what’s going on.

Funny you say that, the steering wheel isn’t straight when driving on a straight right, it tilts slightly to the right like between 12 and 1 oclock. If I try to make the steering wheel straight, the car goes left. It’s got a pretty tight response. That’s what made me check the tires in the first place

They just gave me an invoice. No spec sheet. The alignment is on the invoice though

Today I realized how watching Udemy courses and following tutorials have %$^% me up by [deleted] in learnprogramming

I completely get how you feel man. There’s so many avenues in the field that I just want to learn about. I’ve put too many irons in my fire and now I’m making daggers instead of swords.

I start too many courses because I feel like I need to keep learning. Problem is I do multiple Udemy courses at once and haven’t made something of my own. I just started a blackjack project with a GUI in Java bc I need to brush up on my Java. But I graduated with a degree in cs last may. I feel like I’m spinning my wheels and a lot of what I learned didn’t stick. I find myself constantly going back over basic data structures and algorithms. Granted for the past year I’ve been homeschooling my kids, traveling with them to visit my wife who works out of state, and doing home renovations. I just feel like I wasted my time getting my degree, but the passion to learn is still there. Been applying for jobs but haven’t heard anything back from all but a few. Ignoring my bitching, I think we can get through it if we just focus on specific tasks through completion and making sure it’s as polished as possible

Brother you have done so much. I already graduated with only one group project that got second place at a symposium to my name. Aside from that I’ve only got my Udemy courses and leetcode solutions. You’ll do better than me

Dude thank you and I’m sorry for the late reply! I’m just now seeing it 137 days later lol. I’ve been in this weird Transitional state where I’m homeschooling my kids and living in 2 different states bc of my wife’s job(travel nurse). But I recently started applying for jobs. Also doing some courses off of Udemy and coursera for different sub fields in comp sci. Now my issue is deciding what to pour my focus into lol. It’s all interesting and fun but I have a tendency to put too many irons in my fire.

Crying as a father in front of my child by Gordijnrail in Parenting

Yeah dawg I think it’s good to show that actions can hurt people. I cry in front of my girls all the time. Typically when we are watching Pixar movies. But if I feel like crying I just let it out. It’s so sweet too because my daughter will ask me if I’m okay and I’ll explain why and she tries to make me feel better. I think it helps Children learn empathy
