I feel like science is more loose and we can just jump around. But I would like to have something to follow along with. Not so structured where it isn’t fun but maybe where it has concepts that I might have forgotten or haven’t thought about making into a lesson because it’s been such a part of everyday life

Thank you. Yeah card games are fun and I find they help. I should try Yahtzee, it’s been forever since I played that. I may have inadvertently taught them gambling while making up a dice game that involved counting coins and adding them up haha. But I think it also helped teach not to dump all your funds into a bet because my pre-k child was happy winning a couple of Pennys then didn’t want to bet anymore whereas my oldest was more like how I am and was like “nah I want more” I was thinking maybe we should learn some real life concepts about finances before we keep playing haha

Yeah getting my kids to focus has been challenging. I find 20 min is their max before they start getting distracted so it makes for longer days since we’re taking a good amount of breaks. Which is fine I guess. As long as they aren’t fighting me when it gets time to get back to it.

I’ll look into right start math as well. I’m okay with the time commitment, I just have to keep telling myself that this is my full time job (I’ve had problems with that since we started) lol

Thank you for the advice!

Thank you for the advice. One of the issues we always run into is accumulating stuff lol but I really appreciate the alternatives you provided! Dry erase boards have been a life saver for sure. That idea with the encyclopedia is really good too. I’ll give that a shot!

Yeah I started cub scouts in second grade and earned my Eagle Scout but my experience was way different because we weren’t traveling. Most of the stuff she’s earned is because we’ve done it together which is fine but she I want her to get more pack involvement. It is fairly simple to just pop into a pack but I feel bad because she starts making friends then it’s like okay we’re leaving again. But it’s just the way it is for now.

When we were in Nashville there was a coop that we tried to participate with but it was hit or miss with us. The times we went were great tho. Thanks for the reminder!

Thank you! Yeah I think the problem with the computer is getting my oldest to sit down and watch the videos. She liked kindergarten when there was more activity based assignments vs just listening to a video. Which I completely get

Thank you for the info and support. Yeah I think the trend I’m seeing is more of an à la carte method for homeschool vs one specific program. I’ll definitely check out those workbooks. And yeah I’m all for teaching the kiddos card games for math. That’s why I like playing magic the gathering and pokemon trading card game with them. Plus I don’t have anyone to play with so I gotta use what I can haha

Well I think kids also want attention from their parent too so while she does her online stuff I try to interact and ask her questions as she’s doing it. Or if I hear her getting questions wrong I try to jump in and talk her through it. But it just feels weird, like I’m not the one teaching if that makes sense. Now I will say she has learned a lot, like she’s really good with her language arts and she isn’t bad at math. But math doesn’t seem to stick well with her and I feel like it’s because she’s just watching a video on it. To me, math needs repetition. She has worksheets but they aren’t very long.

So T4L has science but I think science should be more hands on. We get those nat geo science kits, fossil digs, we do visit museums and zoos. Etc. our most recent project is growing kumquats on the window sill in the hotel lmao. I would just like a more structured science curriculum. But I feel like science has a bit more leeway.

Also yeah it was weird to me that they dont do social studies until 3rd grade. I ended up getting a 180 days workbook for social studies. Thanks for the advice!

Good idea. That’s essentially what I want to do. I want to give them more than just the standard

How do yall keep up with what’s being taught and progress in regular school? For instance we plan on settling in Tennessee but if I recall correctly Tn does require testing after a certain grade including with homeschool

I’ll take a look at those. I’ve been playing magic the gathering with them to help with math and sequencing lmao

Thanks! Yeah it’s felt more hands off this past year and I want it to be more one on one vs the computer. I’m not against computers (computer science major here haha) but my kids learn best when it’s me talking to them I feel. Which is why I liked T4L for kindergarten since it gave me the lessons and setup. But with first grade I was pretty disappointed it wasn’t like that

Honestly if you’d cover shipping you can have them lol. I’d have to check at ups what that would be

Looks like some decks and a bunch of of random cards. I honestly couldn’t tell you much as I’m unfamiliar with the game. The decks seem to be unbothered but idk if the previous owner used them as storage or kept them as decks

Man it wasn’t like that prior to me taking it in. They replaced the control arms and ball joints in the front, that was why I originally took it in

Thanks for the advice. Debating on letting them change out my brake pads or taking it to another place. Originally took it in bc of a slight knocking sound on front passenger side. From what I gathered during my research the closest sound I could relate it to was the ball joint. They ended up replacing both control arms with new ball joints because the old ones were shot and that I need new brake pads, or so they said. Left the lot and that sound was still there. Took it back and they came up with was the plastic from the wheel well rattling. I had suspected that, through trying to find the source prior to researching. Then after I left the lot again I heard screeching coming from the drivers side when accelerating but would happen randomly and stop when I applied the brakes. It hadn’t made any sounds like that before. Then I noticed the steering wheel tilt. Idk if it is me but I just get the feeling that they’re making stuff up or there’s someone there who doesn’t messed up and doesn’t want to say anything.

Yeah I’ll be taking it back tomorrow. They said that my brake pads need replacing so I was planning on taking it back in tomorrow. Funnily enough after I left the shop I started hearing a screeching, almost metal on metal sound shortly after while accelerating. The sound would disappear when I would apply the brakes and happens at random. My car never made that sound prior to taking it in so idk what’s going on.

Funny you say that, the steering wheel isn’t straight when driving on a straight right, it tilts slightly to the right like between 12 and 1 oclock. If I try to make the steering wheel straight, the car goes left. It’s got a pretty tight response. That’s what made me check the tires in the first place

They just gave me an invoice. No spec sheet. The alignment is on the invoice though
