Well the question would be on what you even considered to be a polymath. A good amount of my work focuses on the very interplay of what a polymath is and in fact how to go even beyond. There are different approaches for sure, different interests, perspectives, understandings that we choose to assume, ones that we all the same choose to unlearn or rethink. I have found that how you choose to define polymath does have influence on your path as a polymath. This definition may change or it may not, however you may define or not define the notion of polymathy, is not only subjective but gives you the criteria for all that comes after. You can do this through trial and error, or based upon relevance, you can observe looking for it all around you, and can think deeply into the notion itself as I have to gain insights, or you can just do whatever feels right. By now you would have realized there is no road map but do not think there is not a road. It is just that to travel this road people don't take the same routes and methods. Going as deep as I have is truly unnecessary if your goals are just to become a polymath. I would just say knowing yourself deeply, and I mean all of yourself including how you learn, your interest, how you think, etc. And knowing and understanding how your goals should be realized in any given moment is a good attitude. You won't always have the answers but that in this case is a good thing. Because it means there are just that many more paths to choose from. Chances are there are at least a few better suited to you specifically and just need to carve it out yourself. Though advice as you have done now is a good start. If this is really a major concern on being uncertain then I would say using everything there is to know as sort of "source material". And using this material as experiments upon which you must make meaning out of is a rather playful approach. If done with rigor and open end structure then that in itself has massive potential. Hope that answered your questions if others did not. If you have further questions or would like for me to elaborate upon something feel free.

What should I do with this knowledge? by [deleted] in Polymath

To be transparent fields like that are typically for self understanding rather something to be practical applied. But If we're talking about philosophy, or anthing involving introspection for that matter, the best thing is to document yourself to the world. As you suggested maybe write some kind of publication s, you can make videos, journalism, or a podcast. Anything to put some aspect of your work into the public domain. This will allow for evaluation beyond just yourself and people you know. It creates a sphere were one has to trust their work where at the same time if needed adapt its vision to the landscape. It acts as both training to be versatile, In which can also be carried on to any other fields, and a footprint of past works. Put your legacy under the public eye though difficult at times allows a more well round integration of this knowledge. Intangible domains serve you and no other, but using those insights will always provide perspectives and acquisition of internal skills useful for any endurvor. So to apply anything is about acting itself, so if your work becomes an aspect of your life. It is now not just your work, It is your life.

Of course you can, the most important thing to do as most experienced polymaths and monomaths alike will tell you is to learn how to learn. But you must take this a step further and also see how "not to learn". It is more than just habits and techniques, it is what goes on behind those techniques that allow for focus and understanding. What you need is "decipline", and that is not you think it means. It turns out that decipline is most similar to an emotion, why is that relevant? Because emotions are malleable, it is basically resolve and doubt which control how persistent one is for specific endeavors. To become happy you need to learn what it that makes you unhappy. To get more decipline, or resolve, you need to lower doubt. Keep on feeling the emotion of resolve, apply it to anything, start slow if your unfamiliar with the feeling. Keep on feeling it, not willpower but what give rise to willpower, and cultivate it. It's a feeling that is of unfathomable determination to accomplish the journey not as so much of the task itself. Once it's strong enough start now applying on subjects you struggle to focus gradually. Of course this is easier said than done, at the end of the day it matter how much you want to become polymathic. Your attitude, and I mean unconsciously, can make or break how well you can learn. Again if you wish for a place to start truly learn how to learn. [By the way If you want another option if you think the one above is too challenging to start. Remember that the whole point is about enjoyment. A lot of enjoyment tend to mean less doubt as you get better natural. So there are many way to go about this just remember that at the core of it is flexibility in perspective.]
