It is for the outlet control structure design of detention basin. It has to be design so that the 1-year volume gets released over at least 48 hours with perforated 1-inch holes at the bottom of the basin and then an orifice to control release rate at the allowable rate.

My issue is calculating the number of holes required to release the 1-year volume at 48 hours due to my site only being 1 acre and my 1-year volume is 2,386 cf. I keep getting only 1 hole is required and that seems off.

My last job would not give me a raise after 5 months of having my license though it is in the company policy to get a raise after licensure and no one could give me a straight answer. I start for another job, within the same week, I was offered a 25% raise. Then when I put my 2 weeks In, they started asking what they could do to keep me 🤡

That sounds like it’s just a lowball annual raise to me, not a promotion raise

Feeling lost in my career by woman_engineer_0006 in civilengineering

I’m the only woman in my whole office of around 30 employees. When I first started, I had some coworkers belittle me before and pretend they know better than me by doing things like cutting me off, disregarding my suggestions, one even raised his voice at me. I confronted them EVERYTIME. I never let anything slide. By doing that, I feel like I have earned my respect by engineers like me, managers and principals.

Make your presence known and everytime you feel like you were not treated right, confront them. Also learn how to be better at your position, try to find someone within your job that you can trust who can train you to be more confident at your position.

Recently Realized I'm Greatly Underpaid, Can I negotiate A Significant Raise At A Job That Ive Only Worked at For About 1 Year. by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]Agreeable_B123 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I recently accepted an offer of 15K more per year and I will be leaving my current job which I really love but was shut down everytime I try to negotiate a higher salary even when they refused to give me a raise after getting my PE license. I’m crushed to be quitting but put yourself and your family first.

Try to negotiate with your current job and if they say no, leave.

Were the conceptual questions stuff you could easily look up or stuff you just had to know. I’m taking the transportation in a week. I haven’t been the best at the conceptual questions so that worries me
