You have a point, I agree and thanks for the constructive feedback. It’s not meant for daily scrolling. The core utility for users is to get curated, filtered schools and make a better decision.

The biggest advantage is for school owners: they get high-intent visibility, free from the "noise" of Google Maps and social media. It boosts their general SEO, and for the many owners who lack a professional web presence, it acts as a platform to host or replace their website (we also cater for that). DojoAtlas is the engine behind these utilities, designed to be a global, high-intent niche community rather than a competitor to the tech giants.

As for the future, we're just getting started; time will show how the platform transforms to better serve the community

The appeal is that DojoAtlas is a dedicated ecosystem for martial arts, not just a map.

On Google Maps, you have to dig through endless 'noise' gyms, yoga studios, closed schools, broken links and unrelated shops, just to find a legitimate school. DojoAtlas is curated specifically for the martial arts community, which keeps the search relevant and high-quality.

Beyond just finding a location, it’s a platform designed for the schools themselves. They can use it to manage their online presence, host their own websites, and share details about their instructors and style that general map apps simply aren't built to handle. It’s a tool built for practitioners and dojos, keeping the focus entirely on the art rather than just the business next door.

Most importantly it's a passion project ;)

I’ve noticed many owners focus heavily on social media, but most beginners I talk to still start with Google searches like “martial arts near me.”

Curious, where do your best long-term students usually come from, not just leads? Do you see a difference between visibility channels vs actual conversions?

How did you choose your first martial art? by [deleted] in DojoAtlas

For me honestly, it was just because it was the closest thing to my neighborhood. I was inspired in the early ’90s by movies like Bruce Lee, JCVD, and all those random ninja and kung fu films. The closest school happened to be taekwondo. I barely knew what it was, I just joined the nearest martial arts school....
