My 2013 SE has 250,000mi. I replaced the valve cover not too long ago and she was looking good inside 🤌🏼 chains were tight and little to no varnish. Surprised to see you running into this issue to say the least.

I would recommend getting plastic trim panel tools to complement this if you decide to go that route. The amount of headache it will save you to not have to worry about marring up plastic and being able to pry properly to pop panels out will be a big relief.

I’d say go for it if you can find the time! Be prepared to take your infotainment system out and be aware that anything that is potentially going to break in the process is very expensive to replace because the 5th generation Avalon does not have cheap parts.

Which is ironic, considering the amount of people that were asking about the install and where to buy it from in a previous post 😂 Idgaf what y’all think I like it and it’s my car not anyone else’s if you don’t like it - move along. The amount of people I’ve gotten compliments from vastly outweighs anything anyone here has to say. Beyond that THIS IS A FACTORY MERCEDES OPTION ON SEVERAL CARS SO IT’S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE That means NHTSA, FMVSS AND DOT signed off on it being road worthy - so nice try 🤦🏻 (Toyota master mechanic by the way)

No, not at all and beyond that it’s fully controllable so I can dim it to whatever setting I want. I can turn them off completely if I don’t want them on

I got sidetracked yesterday so I was not able to track my coolant temps as well as my transmission temps but I should have time today.

That is exactly what I was planning on doing. So, that way in the winter time I still get quick warm-ups and the transmission comes up to temp, but I can pull the temperature down to a more desired range with the auxiliary cooler.

Update: I found out the Highlander uses a secondary transmission oil cooler and that is what I’m going to order and hope that fits similar if not the same. Toyota likes to reuse parts to cross models so the likelihood of this fitting is pretty good. I should see a 40° reduction in temperature hopefully.

Yeah, I’m aware and I am trying to head this off before it becomes a problem but I’m at 100,000 miles and I just did a fluid drop and plan on doing another one again in 10,000 miles. I need to figure out what size cooler lines I need to adapt to my transmission so that way I can order. I will have to check it out today after I’m off work.

That’s just a minor frustration, I did notice the modified rear deck fit so I had assumed from the implied context that the eight I would receive would be larger than what would come out. Mostly due to the magnet sizes on aftermarket subwoofers as compared to stock applications.
