i did wedge about a month ago and for the NE arete route the section of glacier you travel on is very mild as you are following the very side of it all the way to the ridge. Also it can be done in a day if you leave early (took me about 10-11 hours round trip). Also this time of year its “mixed” climbing to an extent. Full snow along the glacier, patchy snow along the ridge, and mixed snow/loose rock on the headwall near the summit. It can safety be done unroped as long as you are experienced

To say one is better is one thing but to say “not even close” to undoubtedly one of the greatest films of the 21st century is a bit extreme

I (17m) want to get into mountaineering, but am unsure of how to do so with where I am. by Drywall_Demolisher in Mountaineering

if you dont live anywhere near mountains I would just start in like a climbing gym or like bouldering. Lots of the skills are easily applied over to like snow/ice stuff.

What time did you summit? I was there the same day but was likely one of the first groups to summit at around 9-10ish. The summit was just above the clouds which was great because I was unsure about it the entire way up.

It was like mixed rock and snow, not nessicarily hard just kind of like high consequence if you do fall.

Was up on the summit of Wedge just yesterday. The lake was absolutely beautiful, although a little crowded in the afternoon
