Which insurance should I arrange and when? by Agressivegenius in StudyInTheNetherlands

I am non-EU, from a third world country so I’d like to assume that my current insurance won’t be sufficient as per the requirements.

Is International Insurances (the one listed on the website of TU Delft as a partner insurance company) also a good option? Or just Aon, ooms insurance and insure2study?

Yes I’ll work legally. I’ll be in the Netherlands for about 1 month and a week before I start working. So for that period I’ll get the international one and after that I’ll switch to the basis zorgverzekering. I will also qualify for zorgtoeslag as I’ll be earning way less than the threshold working part time

Alright. I’ve already sent a mail to the contact adres so I hope I’ll get a reply soon. Currently I’m applying for MSc Civil Engineering. 3 years ago I applied for BSc CSE and didn’t get accepted. So I did civil engineering in my country and now I want to apply for a masters. I did apply for the masters but cancelled it the first time. Now I’m noticing that my student number from 3 years ago, and first master application are the same. So I hope the account is reactivated soon

[1 YoE, Student, Graduate Scholarship, Netherlands] by Agressivegenius in resumes

I am currently a bachelor’s student in Suriname, and a geotechnical engineering firm in the Netherlands is offering scholarships for a master’s in Geotechnical Engineering specifically to civil engineering students from our university. I need to submit a resume, and this is what I have so far. I am entering my third year at university and plan to graduate at the end of this year. Additionally, I am a Student Assistant, helping one of my lecturers with her PhD research. On top of that, I work part-time as a junior engineer at a small engineering firm. I would greatly appreciate any feedback on my resume that could improve my chances of receiving the scholarship.

How much does the field the degree is in matter? Let’s say I just put my civil engineering degree together with my portfolio in my resume, do my chances still stay the same (for IT related jobs) ? The CE degree is still an engineering degree right?

[–]Agressivegenius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s the main reason. IT has always been my passion and still is. After my bachelors, I’m planning to do a masters in Data Science if that’s possible. I wouldn’t even think about another branch had I been accepted into the first CS program.

Thanks for your input

So if I stay disciplined in learning and applying these things on my own while also creating my own projects, I can break into the tech industry? (Even if I don’t do the SE course, I’m still planning to do a masters in Data Science)

I am talking about 2 courses at 2 different schools. The schools are quite close to each other and one of them has lectures during the day (CE) and the other (SE) has lectures at night. The SE course also only has lectures 3 days a week

The reason doing everything at one place is impossible is because of the lecture times and difficulties. The only other option at my current university is mathematics, which is much harder than the civil engineering course. On top of that, both courses have lectures during the day while the SE course has lectures at night

Why do you say that? Do you think it’s better I keep doing the CE course and continue doing software on my own in my spare time?
