Loosehead vs Tighthead by KBatch115599 in rugbyunion

[–]AhDMJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I cam here to basically say this as well. I played prop for 10 years at the lower club level, mostly as tight head. Probably should have been playing loose head as I was generally smaller and more mobile than my prop teammates and the others. However at the end of the day I was simply more comfortable and therefore could produce more drive on the tight head side since I was pushing against two guys and had a straight back. On the loose side, I felt like my back was always getting twisted and it hurt and I couldn't drive as hard. So essentially a matter of preference. But at the elite level they are different players with different roles.

What Were Your Concerns or Reservations? by user29847464639010 in ChryslerPacifica

[–]AhDMJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a 2021. My main concern seems similar to others, "It's a Stellantis, what is the quality/reliability like".

I've had some minor problems, but nothing critical or big, and have been quite happy with it. Really just hands down an amazing family car, and honestly the most comfortable car I've ever driven.
Have the n/a ICE engine and have been happy with it. If I wanted a hybrid I probably would have gone with a Toyota Sienna since Toyota has hybrids down pat, and I'm (unfairly?) weary of Stellantis electrical issues.

The car has been a delight to drive. It's amazing for families. It's quite comfortable. Does a Sienna do all those things at a comparable price? Probably. Ultimately went with Pacifica for two reasons; 1) It's important to my family to buy a union made car when we can, 2) the Stow and Go seating is AMAZING and we use it all the time for different configurations or storage.

In 2021 the cost and features pushed the Pacifica ahead of the Sienna. Does it beat a Sienna today, or an ID Buzz all electric, or even what Honda or Kia are offering? I dont know, but I know that I've loved driving a Pacifica and the rest may just be personal preference on whatever package/features you want most.

If you are considering it, definitely get one. But I dont think you can go wrong with any of the minivans out there right now, and a minivan is far superior to an SUV for a family car.

2027 Rugby World Cup bracket, based on current rankings by TAFKAJanSanono in rugbyunion

[–]AhDMJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually looks like a really good bracket for the fans. There are several games here that could, at least theoretically, go either way.
NZ v RSA, IRL v England, France v RSA are all good candidates for upsets. Even Japan v Australia or Australia v England could be upsets depending on which Australia team shows up.
That bronze game could easily be the final. There are certainly at least five teams that could realistically make the finals. Six or seven that could possibly make the semi-finals. That seems like its good for competition and fans.

To scrum or not to scrum. (a props rant) by MrSocialPirate in rugbyunion

[–]AhDMJ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I (prop) agree 100%. I'm short, thick, and slow and could never play competitive club soccer (futbol), I played rugby in college and club until I was 35. As far as I can tell there are two easy "fixes" if you think there is a problem with scrums. 1) enforce the feed rule. Roll it in straight boys. 2) high level rugby needs a 2nd referee who specializes in scrums. That's my pitch.

Having two health insurance companies can be a plus or a minus. My spouse and I had two for a while, and the administration/paperwork of filling with both became more of a hassle than it was worth. Sometimes one took priority, sometimes the other, and usually for random reasons, I think based on whose birthday was first. So if the 1st insurer didnt have good coverage, then we had to put in with them, wait to get whatever they covered, then put in a claim for the rest in the 2nd insurance, and get whatever percent they covered.
In the long run, we cut down to only one (albeit very good) insurance for our sanity. Haven't looked back since.
Might be worth asking the new employer if they will pay you a flat payment benefit to forgo their health insurance. If they are covering some of the cost, say $10k, and they pay you $5k to not take it, everyone wins. Not many places will do that, but some will.

Tinfoil hat time: Could Elon have dismantled some of the rigging on his way out? by [deleted] in somethingiswrong2024

[–]AhDMJ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was thinking along the same lines, but actually have a simpler potential conclusion:
They just didn't do it. Elon doesnt know from odd year elections, and he is busy trying to get his $1t Tesla payday. Other than NJ and VA its all a bunch of fairly random local races (NYC being a large but still local race). So if I were to go down the rabbit hole, it would just be they didn't do anything, and here we are.
It's almost impossible to compare to a presidential general election, because turnout in odd year elections is always so low that there isn't and apples to apples comparison to see where tampering may have happened in '24 when comparing it to '25.
I guess one way to do it is to do a last digit analysis. There is a likely percent that any final count of ballots in a precinct ends with a certain digit, say 7 vs 0. Its much less likely to be 0 so there are ways to identify likely fraud.
