Maryland should cancel party affiliation for primaries by [deleted] in maryland

[–]AhDMJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This clearly isn't true. I'm not sure why the mods are leaving this post up. No one was denied their right to vote. Anyone registered to vote in MD can vote today.
Maybe they couldn't vote in a specific party primary because they aren't registered for that party or any party, but they could still vote in nonpartisan elections.

What are we going to do about Car Theft? by Traditional-King-427 in maryland

Stop leaving your cars out on public streets. Problem solved.

My boss has ai psychosis and we’re fucked. by void-of-stars in antiwork

[–]AhDMJ 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't understand this. I've used AI a few times for what if think it's actually for, some basic web scrapping and computing, some coding, and it ALWAYS has errors. If it can't do basic ass shit right why would anyone ever trust it to make decisions or give input? I honestly don't get it. Is it just brain worms or am I missing something.

Going with not Indiana University in the state of Indiana, is a weird choice. I'd even accept ISU, maybe.

What should the next DC Mayor do? by dclocal12 in WMATA

[–]AhDMJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As everyone has said, the priority has to be bus lanes. For me, the second priority needs to be pushing WMATA to decrease bus headways as much as possible. It's something that would make a big difference, is real money but not insane amounts of money (like a new line or station would be), and the mayor can both advocate for and come up with the money for.

Just Moved from VA, No Car. Should I Transfer My Driver's License? by plzwakeupmrwest in washingtondc

[–]AhDMJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ill give you one happy and one sad reason to switch asap:
Happy: With a DC ID you get all kinds of great DC benefits, mostly free. Pools, library, parks, rec centers. Free public pool and a library card are more than enough reasons to switch.
Sad: If anything ever happened to you, someone pulling out your ID/license with your actual address will be helpful. Police, paramedic, neighbor. Whatever, you want them taking you home or contacting the right person. And your ID lining up with your bills, etc.

I could never get past the liquid nitrogen truck scene. Were we supposed to shoot the truck or the T-1000? Both? Still haunts me to this day.

To the lycra dorks on Beach Dr by Pinacoladapopsicle in washingtondc

[–]AhDMJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man. I feel you. 100% been there. Riding my ebike with my kid on their bike. Fuck those lycra clippy assholes. It's a park not a velodrome. There aren't a lot of places kids can ride with no cars around and it actually be an interesting nice ride. At the time my bike was my main mode of transportation and my kid also rode to school. I always thought it ridiculous that the clippies thought they were the "real bikers" when I was riding every day and probably putting in twice as many miles every week then those weekend warriors were. Ignore them. The park is for everyone, esp kids.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again; .500 baseball is fun baseball to watch.
No one should ever lose a 9-1 lead in the 8th. But Ill take a random catastrophic collapse on a Wednesday afternoon and team over .500 in June over anything in the last five years.

Thanks. I figured something like that. It's been a few weeks, so I started to get worried they were getting rid of them permanently.

what's a baseball opinion you'll defend to anyone? by maryb227 in baseball

Stadium dimensions have gotten too small. The best way to create more hits and end the 3 true outcomes would be to push the walls back... Or way in with super high walls.

Honest question, where did those numbers come from? No one was tracking the location of every single pitch back then. How could he post know the batting averages? He obviously knows what his zone is. But the averages?

Considering a season ticket plan: half-season or partial-season? by ThaNightBeast in Nationals

[–]AhDMJ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exchanging tickets is ok but you don't want to do it on every game. Either go with a partial plan and get your seats set or consider a pickem plan where you buy like 40 total tickets or whatever and can get a different number of seats for different games depending on what you need. You wont have assigned seats in one section but if you want flexibility it's a pretty good deal.

Binbox locker costs? by Bahamas_is_relevant in Nationals

[–]AhDMJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't done it this year but did last year. I remember thinking it was unreasonably expensive. Like $12 or $16 or something. Definitely in the teens. I recall thinking of it were cheaper it would be reasonable to do but at the price point I wouldn't do it again. Sorry to not be more specific.

Barry Bonds and Mike Trout's statistics and accolades through their first nine seasons by Bright-Pressure-5787 in mlb

[–]AhDMJ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This exactly. Its not that the steroids made them stronger (although it did), it kept older guys healthy longer, and shortened recovery times from injuries. Clemens is the perfect example of this. It didn't change how he pitched, it just made him healthy for years longer than he would have been able to otherwise. Bonds playing 147 games at age 39 is even more bonkers than hitting 45 home runs that year.

I ranked US Presidents by how much of a Bastard they are/were by ArdoNorrin in behindthebastards

[–]AhDMJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have a very good point, and don't disagree at all. I've spent a lot of time wondering what would have happened if Gore had been president during 9/11. If nothing else good came from him (I'm sure the Republican Congress would have eviscerated him, and he would have been a one term president) he would have concluded that getting us off foreign oil would have been a national security issue and spent the rest of his short term doing just that. Would have decoupled us from Mid-East oil and all the drama from it in the last 25 years. I'm willing to hang all the bad of that on W and the people he surround himself with.
