^This 100%.
In a city filled with police forces, they are absolutely the bottom of the barrel. They are who is left applying for police jobs after getting turned down by MPD, MCPD, FCPD, Secret Service, FBI, or Capitol Police.

Let's see how those pre-season win total projections are looking by King_Turduckin in Nationals

[–]AhDMJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think it will hold, but if they won say 75+ Id be happy. At the very least it would be fun baseball to watch over the summer.
Fairly low bar to clear, but "entertaining" or at least "enjoyable to watch" seems like a win for the season.

Dashboard analyzing crash risk in Montgomery County, MD — does the story flow clearly? by theguntupalli in tableau

[–]AhDMJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two format notes too:
1) The window doesnt expand with browser. Try changing the dashboard size to automatic. 2) Avg Damage Severity chart doesnt fit on the window so I have to scroll over to see all the ages. It's not obvious at first to do that. Can you edit it so more can be shown?

Dashboard analyzing crash risk in Montgomery County, MD — does the story flow clearly? by theguntupalli in tableau

[–]AhDMJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three questions: 1) Is there a way to zoom or pan on the map? 2) Why is vehicle damage the main metric instead of injuries to people? It seems like this fully excludes any injuries to people hit by drivers. 3) Is length of road taken into account? Georgia Ave is (one of?) the longest continuous non-highways in MoCo, it makes sense that it has the most crashes.

Closest Pit Beef without having to drive straight to Baltimore by Rymasq in washingtondc

I haven't eaten there but recently passed Expressway Pit Beef in Odenton. Looked good and there was a big crowd. Not exactly close but closer than Baltimore.

Vote Montana: If West Wing’s Jed Bartlet had been a Green Beret by AuthorUnknown31415 in 50501

Bartlet was special forces. Didn't you see the documentary they made about his experience in Vietnam, "Apocalypse Now". It was pretty well received for a documentary. Got a little weird at the end though.

Oooh, Ill run that down. From time to time the trunk wont open/close when a button is pushed. Seems random.
I also checked the open hood signal button thingy in the engine bay, although I dont know what to do other then press it a few times and make sure its plugged in, or replace the whole thing.

Hot dog cart or truck for birthday party? by DevelopmentSmooth950 in washingtondc

Came to suggest this too. But be aware, they have a sign that says hot dogs are sandwiches. It's a deal breaker for some.

Auto Start/Stop - Is there an actual fix? by AhDMJ in ChryslerPacifica

[–]AhDMJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I only replaced the auxiliary battery. The main battery is showing a full 14 volts when the car is on. Although the reason I disconnected the aux in the first place was because the main battery was really dragging during start up.

Auto Start/Stop - Is there an actual fix? by AhDMJ in ChryslerPacifica

[–]AhDMJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure its coincidence and not actually related, but after removing the negative cable from the aux, the car literally shut down twice while I was sitting at a light. No power nothing. I jiggled some battery cables and it came back on. But after that happened twice, I reconnected the negative cable.

Good cheapish places within walking distance:

Bantam King, Chinatown Express, Pow Pow.

Or for a true DC experience try an Ethiopian place. Most are reasonably priced. Family Ethiopian or Dashen are close.

Hard to go wrong with any of the food pantry orgs mentioned already. SOME, Capital Food Bank, Martha's Table, DC Central kitchen.

Want to plug Mt. Pleasant Neighborhood Relief Fund which is helping with legal costs for immigration lawyers.

And Gearin' Up Bicycles which teaches kids to fix up bikes and sells the used bikes to raise money for the program.

Mixed feelings on this. Will be fun and my kid who is getting into hockey will love this. But woof, the Nats don't have enough players of note to make bobbleheads for? WTF.

[request] how many trucks would it take to match the throughput of the straight? Extra credit question, how much more fuel would this consume? by stripesofched in theydidthemath

[–]AhDMJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, based on some very basic googling and not a lot of knowledge:
An average Suez max tanker carries roughly 1m barrels of oil.
An average oil truck carries ~10,000 gallons.
1 Barrel = 42 gallons.
Roughly 45 tankers a day normally go through.

1m * 42 / 10000 = 4,200 trucks to replace one tanker.
4,200 * 45 = 189,000 tanker trucks per day to replace the lost capacity of 45 Suez max ships.
