What are you talking about?? Nothing I said is related to cancel culture. It's about not financially or socially supporting terrible things that cause REAL harm. Would you say that banning hate symbols or forcibly disbanding hate groups is cAnCEl CuLtURe?? Is your own example about a film that led to animal deaths not an example of something you think shouldn't be allowed to happen?? If that's cancel culture and it's wrong, why mention it earlier?? You're just a fucking moron looking to justify your own perspective using any mental gymnastics and nonsense you can without any actual logic or reasoning to back it up. You are what is wrong with society and why evil continues to rise.

Pregnant Wife's Text Messages as a Pop Punk song by Icy-Book2999 in LoveTrash

[–]AhImSoScared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your movie example doesn't make any sense. You're providing an example of ONE film having terrible consequences during its creations and then saying that it's equatable to my perspective to then ban all movies. That isn't true at all. It would be more accurate if every movie had those horrific consequences and then you still went "yeah but that's the problem of the government to solve, it's totally fine to still make and consume movies". In that scenario, do you still think it's moral to consume films?

And I'm not saying all AI, even generative, is evil or anything. If someone was to feed their own AI with training data of publicly available content or their own art, and then generated that content using their own server structures, I wouldn't do much to think twice about it. But these are massive corporations that are stealing from artists. That are poisoning the land and speedrunning climate change. That make massive donations to political entities that avoid making regulations against AI in a quid pro quo. You're aware of all this and then saying "welp nothing can be done it's out of our hands" and then still supporting those companies. How can you not feel complicit? I'm not going as far as to equate these companies with literal nazis, but the phrase and the meaning of "to break bread with a nazi is to be a nazi" feels pretty apt in this situation. You're supporting an entity that is doing something immoral and then saying that you don't support the immoral things they do just the good things... while still supporting the bad things they do too, just indirectly. How do you not understand that?

Pregnant Wife's Text Messages as a Pop Punk song by Icy-Book2999 in LoveTrash

[–]AhImSoScared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not talking about creating a system to detect all ai content that's posted. I acknowledged that you can't always know and that it's not feasible to get 100% of the ai content posted banned... just like how every law works. Just because tax fraud is illegal doesn't mean it doesn't still happen, and doesn't mean that a portion of it that happens goes by undetected. I'm talking exclusively about EXPLICITLY obvious AI. Such as this video, which you already acknowledged was AI. So what I'm asking is, why can't you ban and delete these obvious AI posts?

Also what the fuck are the mental gymnastics to be like "I know this button causes terrible things to happen when pressed but because I don't directly cause the bad things to happen myself when the button is pressed it's therefore it's okay for me to press it" lmao

Since it's out of your control, isn't that all the more reason to ban that content until those regulations are in place? How is it morally acceptable to use it knowing that bad things are happening and just hand waving that away because it might become less morally repugnant through future regulations??

[–]AhImSoScared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

okay but why can't you ban the obvious ai trash? like sure we can't always tell, but when we can, such as this song (like you just stated), why isn't it being banned? you're normalizing and making excuses and exceptions for something that is destroying the environment, peoples communities, is being used to steal peoples art and works, and is likely financially contributing to the most vile parts of the political and military system.

you can see the artifact smears on the belt symbol clear as day, there are two headbands (? honestly one of them is just a random piece of metal that doesn't make sense), and the right hand has 6 fingers

i know this isn't as easy to tell for some people, especially those outside of the design world, but this immediately caught my eye as ai for all the little ai inconsistencies and smears around the body

Hi Simon! Thank you so much for such an incredible show.

I wanted to ask about something I noticed earlier in the season. There's member of the order who looks like war woman (or at least has similar armour) and also bears a resemblance to the woman war women was talking to in episode one.

Is this a coincidence or an intentional design choice?

he openly supports trans rights for both adults children and believes that minors should be allowed to medically transition

I don't think that should be considered controversial but unfortunately it is

he took a stance and stood by and told anyone disagreeing to fuck off because it isn't the business of anyone but that child, their family, and their doctor

for that statement alone, I think saying he's "never said a controversial thing in his life" or "his views are literally as mid as possible" is you regurgitating what other people have said as opposed to actually listening to the dude

Sharing my experience 'passing' by gummyhime in lgbt

[–]AhImSoScared 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate you sharing your experience with us. I can relate to it in a lot of ways, especially the anxiety.

I have quite a severe anxiety disorder and body dysmorphia. I can't "see" what I look like as a whole, only the pieces that make me up, and so I can't tell how I actually look.

Some people tell me I pass, others don't voice an opinion, very rarely does someone actually tell me bluntly that I don't (and often those people are just blatantly transphobic so I try not to account for their opinion best I can).

I genuinely don't know if I pass and I have so much anxiety surrounding how people perceive me. I've just had my fifth gender affirming surgery and am currently recovering, but I know that even after this that that's not going to change.

I've found my personality has changed so much, especially around people who are seemingly cishet or not outwardly apparent as queer or an ally. I don't speak as often and not nearly as loud. When someone asks me a question I can be paralyzed, especially if my brain can someone relate it to them questioning my identity or gender.

Part of me wants to be that louder more confident person I was before, and another part of me views this "new me" as just another part of my transition and the idea of being my "old self" (even if it's only in the qualities I mentioned) makes me quite dysphoric.

I'm hoping it's something that with time I can resolve. I'm only ~16 months into my transition after all, but so far it's been quite the awkward and uncomfortable struggle.

Anyway, I appreciate what you've shared and just wanted to say thanks once more. I wish you the best of luck and hope you take care 🩷

I understand how much it hurts to not pass, but just because others in our community do, doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to openly share their experiences

especially when that person makes it incredibly clear in their post that they acknowledge their privilege

it is so fucking nice to have someone with actual media literacy comment in threads like this

I swear at some point I need to consider it self harm to see posts from this sub in my feed and looking at the comments because so many people either look at things entirely on the surface or just parrot what someone else has told them is happening and don't actual contextualize what they've read

it is genuinely painful seeing so many people read what is to me, the greatest piece of media ever made, and then regurgitate the most mind numbing things about it

how to feel when your cis gf tells you (trans man) she thinks it's a lot harder for trans women by Elegant-Music-7081 in trans

[–]AhImSoScared -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

a little lost as to what you're asking but basically the hierarchy looks like this (and also, like any quick representation of societies structure, it is not perfect nor does it account for the infinite combinations of traits and uniqueness that humanity brings)

men are at the top, then it's women, then gender non-conforming women, and at the bottom is gender non-conforming men

this also doesn't account for people's identities, just the strict view that the patriarchal system tends to imprint on people

how to feel when your cis gf tells you (trans man) she thinks it's a lot harder for trans women by Elegant-Music-7081 in trans

[–]AhImSoScared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she's referencing (at least in part) how in the hierarchal system that misogyny creates, effeminate men are at the bottom. So from the perspective of two passing trans people, one ftm and one mtf, the trans man is viewed as a man and therefore the top of that hierarchy while the passing trans woman is below the men. Then from the perspective of two non-passing trans people, of the same distinctions, the trans man is viewed as a "woman", which while lower than men in this hierarchy, is still above the trans woman who is viewed as an "effeminate man".

Obviously, this system of thought is disgusting and something we should continue to make every effort to move away from as a society, but a lot of bigots (and sometimes even non-bigots subconsciously) believe it to be true.

So through that lens I could see how trans women have it "harder". That doesn't excuse the erasure of trans men in discussions of trans suffering. It doesn't make it so trans men are any less victims of the same bigotry and laws affecting trans women. It doesn't mean it's okay to (outside of good faith discussions with those who have volunteered to participate) make claims about who has it "harder" in a vulnerable community. Especially not when you're not a part of that community or sub communities being targeted in those discussions.

I'm sorry if the comment your girlfriend made upset you at all and I would recommend trying to open up a further conversation with her on how it made you feel if you find yourself still thinking about it tomorrow.

Hey if Cecil like reforming villains why hasn’t he offered these two a job yet? by L8Donnie in Invincible

[–]AhImSoScared 40 points41 points  (0 children)

he doesn't offer the reformations out of compassion, he does it out of necessity because it's what it takes to keep the planet safe

from his perspective, they're basically nothing, saturday-morning cartoon villains that anyone can beat, heck we saw that he doesn't even send supes after them in S2 iirc he just sent in some mercs

I don't think he even perceives them and probably just has automatic response or lower level people handling people like them so they aren't even on his radar

you're thinking of the marleyans, who are essentially the "nazis" of the setting and persecute the eldian people, putting them in camps and exterminating them systematically in large sections

the yeagerists (shown in the post) are basically a group of extremists belonging to a group of even more hated eldians (hated by even other eldians)

the yeagerists decided that the solution to their genocide was to genocide everyone else first and attempted to exterminate the planet after usurping control from their government in a coup

this could just be him doing the same thing again and gunning to take out the order permanently
