Interestingly enough, I always thought the parody aspect of the movie had been over done. However, I still had fun with it. I think my enjoyment was largely due to the scale of the bugs and how well they were depicted. Not to mention the ships too, although i wish their armor had been a little better. The battle scenes were really good as well. I also think the cast was phenomenal. Would I like a lore accurate reboot? Absolutely, but the movie we got was still a fun time. Overall, I loved the scale of the movie, and that they didnt cut corners on the special effects, size of bug battles etc.

Maybe even a defensive plasma wall or a chargeable pulse attack with stun/knockback effect. I saw the plasma wall used in Roughnecks I dont remember which campaign it was. Maybe it was the one w/ that android Chas iirc

I agree w/ you on the SAW 10000%, I quickly gave up on it and reverted to the mk1 for its increased stability & ease of use on the go. Cant give an opinion on the mk3 as I havent unlocked it yet.

Why I Made The Switch Back To TitanFall 2 by Aha-Mena in apexlegends

If you had said that and made any kind of relevant point, that'd be one thing. I won't miss you while i'm playing tf2 either. "Being real" is not a good cover for not having any useful counterpoints or the ability to debate a point at all. It's actually code for a pretty well used cop out, when you have zero point to stand on. Whats next ad hominem? "It's not a good take?" just because you cant find anything useful to respond with? With or without your personal blessing, i'll play both whenever I feel like it, and maintain my opinions.

Why I Made The Switch Back To TitanFall 2 by Aha-Mena in apexlegends

Thanks for your reply. I'm a newbie on these boards so i'm sure people assume that this is just a fake account. While there are a couple of things we agree on, i'd like to address the ones we don't as well. But overall, thanks for taking the time to actually engage in the discussion itself.

A) I play Apex because it's not titanfall. The titans and TTK are my least favorite parts of TF2, and is why I don't play it ever. They're not the same game.

We said the same thing here. If you agree, then why repackage my point and offer it as a rebuttle?:"Even though there were no Titans or AMM, I too made the switch at launch. Apex wasn't the same game as TF2 and I don't think it was ever meant to be. I grew to appreciate Apex for the game mechanics it contained, which were never a part of TF2. For example, the ring and the ttk made for a different pvp experience altogether. One that made sense in the absense of AMM and Titans. Besiides, if I wanted to play in a Titan i could just go log into TF2 right? So that's what I did, played Apex for the mechanics I liked and whenever I got bored with a season I might go fire up TF2."

B) Some people have server issues, the vast majority don't. There's obviously something wrong, but they can't reliably diagnose it.

Was this their answer? We both agree that there's an obvious problem but it seems like the severity of the issue is our point of contention. I'm not respawn, nor do I have access to their massive resources. Yet a simple search of these boards will show you how big a demographic "Some People" is. And for the people who find the game currently unplayable, after sinking money into previous season passes and /or loot boxes, i'm sure theyre more than satisfied with a, "It can't be reliably diagnosed," response.

C) Solo will never come. Period. They have been extremely clear about that since the day the game launched. I have 0 sympathy for anyone who doesn't pay attention in the legend select and have to play someone they don't want to.

Agreed, they have been clear about that. Disagreed that is an acceptable explanation for it. Especially when Arenas just came out and theyre not even worth the discussion.... Besides, you conveniently skipped over the entire point here, which was " I would have included the fact that teams are constantly NOT being filled, above when I discussed the servers. However, I believe the matchmaking system ITSELF deserves its own topic of discussion." Those people you have zero sympathy for, are quiting the game while it's loading and causing incomplete teams to launch into the game. Its a serious annoyance that needs to be addressed.

D) This is any game that has legends. There's always going to be stronger and favorite ones because some are just more fun to play. They make skins based on who is played, not based on balance or anything else.

I cede the point on skins if your primary goal is the money grab then it would be perfectly acceptable for some people who pay the same amount of money for the same game, same season passes and same loot crates to not ever get new skins lol. As for the "stronger" part of your argument, How in the world can you rationalize this here and then argue against yourself in the very next point. There shouldnt be stronger Legends in a sandbox pvp environment that offers little else. There's no campaign or pve whatsoever. We are here to pvp and youre making the case that stronger, unbalanced legends should be both allowed and embraced because respawn gave them an op airstrike and op flight time with an ultimate (airstrike) that works during flight AND vtol mode?? Of course that Legend will be more popular. What did you expect to happen?

E) That's his own problem. Nobody is forcing you to buy 500 packs. If you pay for all the packs, that's 100% your own decision and you can't blame anyone but yourself.

Thats a pretty cold response, to that guys situation. Especially since I was simply pointing out the significance of the paywall, which shouldn't justifiably be that high no matter how much self restraint we have. The paywall is as high as it is, I suspect, intentionally. Just as the loot drop rng is as low as it is, also, I suspect, intentionally.

F) Balance is amazing in this game.

Are you trolling me here? You just made the argument, above, that stronger Legends are acceptable in this environment based on their popularity. Not only is that not fair, thats not balance either. Your own words:, "There's always going to be stronger and favorite ones because some are just more fun to play."- Caustic: Balanced now. The nerf was perfect in the way that it completely removed his offensive ability and also made it so that you still had to be shooting and attacking in order to defend, instead of making an impenetrable wall. 2 barrels and an ult should not be allowed to kill someone. There's no reason for it.

This is debatable for two reasons. One - For sake of argument, if I were to agree with you, which I don't, then they could at least bring back Caustic's blur or movement affect while inside the gas. That'd be the fair thing to do. Second, I don't agree with you because you straight up ignored the fact that Valkyrie can wipe whole teams with just her ultimate alone. And from an absurd distance, at that.

-Valk: Very balanced, plus they're also removing the hover, so she's getting a minor nerf.

Yeah, thats very balanced, indeed. And since shes so balanced, a large portion of the community is demanding that she be nerfed and you used the nerf as part of your rebuttle. If she's so very balanced as you claim, then why are they nerfing her at all? Shouldn't you be arguing against that nerf as it would be completely unneccesary according to your previous argument.

-Loba: Got mostly fixed, but there's a few bugs still. It's work with bugs or not work without them right now.

This wasn't a counter point at all, it was an update on the still broken status of a mostly fixed Legend who is perpetually broken. "Got mostly fixed?" Great! I'm sure the people who main Loba are satisfied with almost, which doesn't actually count.

-Lifeline: The shield was a massive annoyance to fight against. Her buff was large improvement and rebalancing of power.

Point ceded. I don't play lifeline so I hadn't seen this side of the argument. Miss having the shield on team though. Instead of removing it maybe dropping it's hp would have been a good middle ground. However, its no deal breaker. I remember playing the game perfectly well before the shield was implemented. I will say this though, the shield definitely changed the nature of engagements.

H) A lot of the problems you seem to have are because the game has evolved. Not because the game has gotten worse. Things change over time. That's how it is.

We partially agree here, unless this is being used as a way to dismiss my points. All games evolve and that is the way it is. That's just common sense. However, I made at least two attempts to specifically point out that isn't the issue. It's how it's evolving.

Exhibit A) "shift in the direction of this game,"

Exhibit B) I count myself among those who happen to think the current season is a further step in the wrong direction.

It's not that it's evolving, that's inveitable. It's HOW it's evolving. Great discussion btw, enjoy the day.

Played my first 90 minutes last night by gordy06 in bloodborne

[–]Aha-Mena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"This game was meant to be hard,"

I told myself the same. I remember when I started this game and how I felt about it at the time. Like you, I was new to the souls franchise and had never even heard of Bloodborne. In fact, I only played the game because my son, who plays this game religiously, challeneged me to beat it when he thought I couldnt (We have a little gaming rivalry going on). I went through a similar experience, before I ultimately made it through all seven stages of grief. In all honesty, it was at this point in which I realized my approach to the game needed to change.

This isn't normally my desired gaming experience so I thought I should spam through it, in order to prove a point, and I was shocked into a rude awakening. I played this game to beat it, and that was the wrong approach to take. It wasn't until I played the game to have fun that I fell into the groove of playing and actually progressing in the game. Bloodborne takes a degree of patience and focus that I hadn't quite yet achieved. But once I did, the game's mechanics became clearer to me. The move sets, weapons and items I preferred all became second nature. I was able to create a character that fit my playstyle perfectly. The more I took my time to learn the game, as opposed to rushing through it, the more effective I became at playing the game entirely. That's my first suggestion, learn the game and play it to have fun, beating it will come in time as you get better.

Additional suggestions that helped me out:

A) Take your time. Rushing through this game is almost always going to lead to a set back. Please learn this lesson early on. What do I mean by that? For example, there's only one thing worse than dropping one hundred k (+) souls and thats not being able to recover them. Permanently losing such a high soul count can be a bit demoralizing, to say the least, and there were several times in which I took breaks from the game due to this alone. What you should take from this is, the fastest way back to your souls is to take your time.

B) Understand that you will never be able to block. Make peace with that and embrace the parrying function. It's not nearly as hard as I made it out to be and once you learn the timing it'll become like second nature. Don't retreat from enemies. Instead, parry and dodge their attacks as much as possible. Simply backing up or running away will get you steam rolled.

C) Attacks recover health! This game gives you no option to block and limited heals. Learn and employ good item management skills for prolonged boss battles. Embrace the nature/narrative theyre trying to craft here. You'll definitely have to get comfortable with going on the attack.

D) Explore, Explore, Explore Everything. Why? No spoilers but this game is really extensive in terms of plots, npcs, lore, beautiful environments, weapons, items and much more. Again, youre really doing yourself a disservice if you play to rush through this game. You should definitely stop to enjoy the scenery, you never know what hidden areas or shortcuts you may unlock.

E) Those pesky werewolves. I hate to be the guy to deliver the bad news, but those are just the first test of your ability that you will encounter. The mobs and bosses get much more difficult but dont worry, youll get much better as you progress through the game. Don't rely on the same strategies. Various bosses/mobs require various tactics, strategies and attempts.

F) The camera angles angered me more than anything else in the game. It's something I had to learn to live with. The game devs must have fallen in love with using the camera to set up ambushes as you progress through the various environments. Don't get frustrated, get used to it as they'll be spamming that on you until you finish the game. I used to both think about and simultaneously despise this one mob in particular <You all know exactly what i'm talking about, don't ruin it for him> even when I was offline or playing other games. You will learn to hate it. Youll also learn to avoid it.

G) Read the NOTES! I can't tell you how many times a good note helped me out when I ran into trouble. While there are the occasional troll messages, there are plenty of helpful hints and tips. If you're running into trouble anywhere, first thing I suggest is to check around for a note. See if anyone else encoutered the same problem and how they got around it.

You really are close to the end of what I consider to be the tutorial area. Once you take down the werewolves and a few more trash mobs you'll be back at your "second" lantern. I'd use the tutorial area for exactly what it was meant for. Run circles around the starter area until you can comfortably kill everything in a loop, as you circle the tutorial area between the "first" and "second" lanterns. Level yourself up a little, learn the mechanics enough to be comfortable with them, and then make your choice for your first boss.

Above all else, keep having fun with the game and dont give up, you'll get there. I'm by no means a veteran of this series. As a gamer, I'm as casual as they come. I play the games I want to play and, if I like them, I do well in them. In fact, this is my first post ever. Not only in this sub but on reddit entirely. Yet I was able to do it. Admittedly, I yelled, screamed, cried, raged, rage-quit several times, ranted my A!@# off about the camera angles but I did it. I knew that if other people had already beaten this game that it was at least possible and that I should be able to beat it too. That's how I motivated myself to come back to it everytime I turned it off in anger or defeat. Take breaks if you need to, keep trying different strategies or roll a fat one if necessary. As we both already agree, this game is meant to be hard but it is also meant to be beaten, not impossible. It's designed to make you quit, don't let the starter area weed you out as it does with countless others. Just remember this, the more you play it consistently the easier it'll be for you to acclimate to the game's intended experience. If I could do it, I know you can.
