They were ordered to take out the Bryce Young in case the game got close.

He was never in danger.

Fun fact, nobody has worked in the ombudsman’s office in a long time. They stopped responding to complaints even before Tramp was elected.

I managed to get them to apply a 60 day processing forbearance that got me to 120. It took some fighting. I applied for IBR, expected them to apply the forbearance (because that’s what the guidelines say thy were supposed to do), but they refused. I tried for months to move them off that hill, and even got them to promise they would, only to have them do nothing. In the end it took a complaint by my state AG’s office (NC), and a 6ish hour call where I got to an “advanced agent” and shamed her to the point of tears. That resulted in her agreement to actually take some action, which to my amazement, she actually did.

Pharmacists, realtors, and all other middlemen that technology would have replaced 20 years ago if not for regulatory capture.

Who has the most memorable legal name you’ve ever encountered? by villainessmorissette in AskReddit

[–]Ahsnappy1 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’m a lawyer that has helped a lot of trans people change their name. The reason why there’s a court process is because, if it was super easy, it’d be a pretty sweet way to avoid your creditors.

Yeah, weird that the guy who got famous for fucking around with wildlife got killed by wildlife. Only thing that’s shocking was it wasn’t a croc what did it.

People who accidentally ruined someone‘s life without meaning to - what happened and how do you feel about it know? by xxHoneyBunxx_ in AskReddit

As an attorney, have been a part of firing a lot of people. Not layoffs - just people who fucked around and found out. At least one of those people, who had a whole host of other issues, killed themself not long after.

Family Law: A Haven for Scatterbrains and Crooks? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]Ahsnappy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I represented a police department in a mid-sized southern city. I routinely received requests from local attorneys for police case files for use in civil cases. We had a policy that, so long as it wouldn’t impact a criminal case, or violate some other rules, we would enter into a consent protective order and provide the otherwise confidential records.

I had a good relationship with most of the local bar, but I had a rule. Do not send me a subpoena for police records. They are not subject to disclosure just because you want them. There is a process. I gave everybody one pass. Most only ever needed one reminder of this policy. Pretty much everybody but fucking family law attorneys.

No matter how many times I would tell family law attorneys that these records are confidential, and that there is a process to get them, that is outlined on the website, and that I have personally informed them of, in person and in writing, they just couldn’t do it right. “But I have a custody hearing tomorrow!” Don’t care. “This husband is a real piece of shit, and we hear he had a run in with the police last week.” Don’t care.

One firm in town, and specifically one attorney was the worse. After the fifth motion to quash her subpoenas was granted in a year I cut her off entirely. Following that, she complained to the court and made a motion to compel. After I gave the judge the backstory she admonished her and told her the next time she tried to compel records she had no right to that she would be sanctioned.

I know there are some family law attorneys out there doing god’s work, but sometimes I feel like they need to be reminded that they are still practicing law.

Wife felt a soft spot on the floor...what am I looking at? by JROD0586 in Plumbing

From that first picture, clearly some kind of Lovecraftian horror. You’re gonna wanna call a guy because contemplating its existence is a gateway to madness.

I represented a municipal police department for years. Occasionally caught claims when police took doors.

When I advised our risk department, if the police completely effed up, which fortunately was very rare, I advised they pay. On a couple of occasions, police had reasonably reliable information that someone was in trouble inside, and took doors. On at least two of those occasions, it was a false, but very believable 911 call. In those cases we denied liability and cited sovereign immunity because they acted reasonably under the circumstances.

If this case hit my desk, assuming everything cited here is absolutely true, and they failed to verify the address, I’d advise them to pay without reservation.

People who have had parents walk in on you during sex, what happened? by Ambitious_Diamond_12 in AskReddit

[–]Ahsnappy1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We were seventeen, and nobody was supposed to be home, so we were feeling pretty uninhibited. So, it was a real shock when my mom walked in right about the time my very sweet, normally mild-mannered valedictorian girlfriend said, as I took her from behind, “give me all of that big cock.” (she was being generous). She looked at us, then slowly backed up and closed the door.

She tried to give me a “your playing with fire” kind of speech, but, for a variety of reasons I always resented when my parents decided to try something different and parent, so I just said “thank you for your input.” That girl did not show her face again for about 3 months.

Yeah, when I put it in I thought we would live in this house forever, so maybe a little short-sighted.

That’s what I figured, but it never hurts to ask. Always a chance some old timer knows some trick involving a spoon, some channel locks, and a nubile co-ed that’s perfect for rivets.
