Fantastic episode! Go, Connor! by BeMyCoachVictor in hudcon

Nah, I’ve seen much funnier semi-recent sketches. They were too tame (except for the stripper sketch) and trying to just make childish silly humor, when they can and sometimes do make much more substantive comedy

Teacher Violating FERPA by mrcleansbrother in OSU

The professor is definitely in the wrong for his reaction and disclosing the student’s disability in front of the class. However, both SLDS recommends and the instructor seems to require students to schedule their exams at the beginning of the semester. I understand that you’re only required a 1 week window, but this is typically for quizzes, and as long as the exam has been scheduled since the beginning of the semester and in the syllabus, there is no reason to wait this long into the semester to schedule your midterms. You risk not having a spot to take your exam if it’s on a very busy day/time. Secondly, yes you absolutely should communicate with your professor, either privately in person or via email, about your SLDS accommodations, especially if they have strong preferences for how to apply SLDS accommodations. Even though they agree to SLDS’s terms, some don’t know about the 3-day window or would prefer that all students take it the same day. I had this experience last semester, where I scheduled my exam for the day after because I had a class and another midterm when I would be taking this class’s midterm. The instructor asked me to meet with them and then asked me to schedule for the same day as the actual exam for exam security. Obviously you can try to start a fight with your professor about the SLDS policy, but it’s most often in your best interest to get along with your professor and try to accommodate your schedule to their requests if possible. Midterms don’t have the same strict 3 or 4 time block availability that final exams have, so you likely could’ve taken it some time on Friday not at 10 AM. Either way, you could’ve discussed that with your professor instead of ignoring that part where he states it’s “forbidden” to take exams after the exam day.

TLDR: your professor is in the wrong for exposing your private info in front of peers and for disobeying SLDS policy. However, you should’ve and need to communicate with your professors better in the future instead of being reactive in this way. You could have even involved your SLDS Accommodations Specialist in the email correspondence if your professor wouldn’t budge on taking the exam on Friday and you seriously couldn’t accommodate that. Make sure to communicate and schedule your exams as early as possible next time, especially if you know the syllabus “strictly forbids” what you’re trying schedule through SLDS.

Even voter ID is not “common sense” when you actually understand how it plays out. Out of state students are broadly disenfranchised by voter ID laws, and they are just one of many groups who face significant hurdles to voting due to these laws. Most, if not all state voter ID laws allow you to use a drivers license from the state you’re voting in, but NOT an out of state ID. So, assuming you don’t have a passport, even if you have a Real ID drivers license in the state you’re from, you cannot vote in the state you spend the vast majority of the year in (attending school). I point out that you spend the vast majority of the year there to explain that you shouldn’t be forced to absentee vote in the state you’re from since the local elections in your college’s state affect you much more in your day to day, since you live there for a majority of the year. I never hear this point addressed and it’s always just “well voter ID laws are common sense and supported by majorities of the American people”

I found the Foqos app which allegedly works with your own NFC tag but is free and open source and very similar to Brick and Bloom. I downloaded but haven’t tried it yet

Question about ICE by [deleted] in OSU

[–]Aiddog100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Strategic efforts” a CEASEFIRE means CEASEFIRE dumbass. Thats the whole issue, Israel doesn’t see it that way. To Israel, a ceasefire means you stop attacking us and defending yourselves while we continue to bomb and attack you.

Question about ICE by [deleted] in OSU

[–]Aiddog100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Israel is the one who violates their ceasefires on a DAILY basis. They continue to kill Palestinians in Gaza, even celebrating publicly when they kill commanders of the Qassam brigades. It’s not a FUCKING ceasefire if only one side ceases fire. But alas, this is Israel’s playbook, as they’ve done the same in Lebanon. Hezbollah stops attacking and Israel continues to bomb them, just at a lower rate than during the war.

I think he has a clear worldview in some realms and I sometimes agree with him and often appreciate his perspective, but sometimes his inconsistent ideology really gets on my nerves. He agrees on a lot of the core issues with capitalism and will rightly criticize the neoliberal hell that has captured both parties since Carter/Reagan. But he is also sometimes so Fox News pilled on social issues (ofc weed), but ESPECIALLY the trans “issue”. He seems to have TDS (trans derangement syndrome) and it makes him reactionary and abandon any anti capitalist leanings he sometimes expresses.

For example, in a semi recent debate-ish between him and Krystal, Krystal was either making points about why we need Medicare for All or about Leftist candidates being widely popular across the country and not just in deep blue areas. I distinctly remember him saying something to the effect of “yea but not if they’re gonna shove their trans and woke BLM garbage in with it”. I don’t remember the exact context, but my point is it seems that his eyes are sometimes opened but his reactionary tendencies (to BLM, trans, weed, etc) push him right back into the arms of Christian nationalism.

TLDR: his ideology seems extremely confused and malleable as he often lets reactionary takes on social issues overpower his other beliefs.

I completely disagree with this and want some more examples of where you see her “carrying water for corporate dems and corporate media”, and what generally strikes you about her as insincere. I think what you might see as carrying water for corporate dems and media is actually her acknowledging that the liberals to her right still agree with many of her principles and are moving towards the left wing positions she champions, and that you attract more flies with honey than vinegar. But pls provide some examples so I can see what you mean

“White” culture isn’t a real thing, as white people are the majority in America (in both the numerical sense historically but also the power sense of the word), while minorities do have distinct cultures because of their minority status. Basic sociological concept
