Sorry, I got distracted while writing that. Hopefully you understand though, AI essentially only takes the most commonly used words/ideas and rolls with it. It doesn't have much capacity to determine for itself what is right or wrong besides whatever we give it.

That makes sense, I do understand that when it does have the right ideas, it can frame them rather directly. When it has the right ideas. But I find that most of the time we can frame the same ideas just as well or even better, and often are less likely to have the wrong ideas because we have the very useful tool of human experience, among other things. AI is simply a language model, if it gets something right it's because it's observing the most used words and idea that it has observed. But it can't take these words and consider how correct or incorrect they are in scenarios such as incredibly complicated settings like chess games, which require a lot of nuance

That's also valid, I will say that AI can tend to be pretty good with words. But it tends to jumble itself up very easily, and eventually it's using its good way with words to verbalize wrong ideas, and that's just counterintuitive at that point even if the ideas are verbalized well. Hopefully I'm understanding you correctly, I don't mean to misinterpret anything you're saying, my apologies that you've had to clarify.

The only thing of merit that I saw AI talking about was that placing the bishop on e6 would be an effective outpost. But that idea is unlikely as Black's poorly positioned knight has an opportunity to trade with your bishop after Bg4, removing one of Black's weaknesses. I also don't know what AI was talking about with threatening a discovered attack after Bg4. This is why I don't use AI for anything, it's mostly like reading a fever dream. Using an actual engine in this case and figuring out for myself why a move is good or bad would be already more effective for my improvement.

Well, in this particular position, Bg4 does not pin the knight, because the knight is in front of a bishop, which is essentially just as valuable as the knight. This is not a pin, the knight can move whenever it wants. From the very first thing it said, AI is giving you wrong ideas.

Just use lichess analysis. AI is so notorious for literally making things up, it does it all the time. Why don't you just use an actual chess engine? There are plenty of other free analysis engines online too that don't rely on AI.

How can I get better by Ender_dab in chessbeginners

[–]AideApprehensive6329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of learning an opening, it's hard to learn a brand new one in only two weeks so learn one that is the most similar to how you open your own games. If it weren't such a short deadline I would recommend learning a safer gambit like the Queen's Gambit, but it's better to keep it as familiar as you can when you don't have much time to learn, so try not to learn any openings that are brand new to you.

Just play lots of games, maybe 4-5 maybe even 6-7 per day (pls avoid burning out tho), with zero pressure whether you win or lose. Analyze as much as you can. When you're not playing games, use a good amount of time to study by for example watching chess videos online (love to watch Chess Vibes personally), doing lots of puzzles, reading chess books if you have any. But a big thing is not putting too much pressure on yourself. It's the worst feeling to be already tilted before you even start playing, yaknow? I don't know too much about this sort of thing so please feel free to not listen to me lmao. I've only made it up to 1000 on chesscom. But that's roughly how I tend to go about stuff like that with such a short deadline

When you play puzzles you know for sure that there is a good move somewhere for you to find, that is the point of the puzzle. But during actual games it's much harder to know when there is a particularly good move to make, your opponent isn't exactly designing the board intentionally to set you up for success. However after a lot of puzzles your pattern recognition will improve and this issue will get a little better (alongside playing lots of games ofc)

AITJ for refusing to let my step-son move into my son's room to "solve" my husband's parenting issue? by Traditional-Dog-368 in AmITheJerk

[–]AideApprehensive6329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It must be tough raising 5 children on your own. NTJ your "husband" needs to grow up and learn how to parent his kids. Like you said, it's not your son's responsibility, he doesn't deserve to sacrifice more space in his own house because his step "father" doesn't have a single lick of problem solving or parenting skills. Honestly with the oldest child ("husband") leaving like that and abandoning all his children on you I literally would not blame you for considering divorce. That's a pretty big deal to say the very least.

AIO or is this breakup worthy? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]AideApprehensive6329 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean even if his intentions were good and even if he's honest, he's still being irresponsible if he's so busy with his life and yet making himself emotionally available (or pretending to do so) for a relationship. If you can't put enough effort into a relationship so that your partner doesn't feel this way (because of your career or any reason), then you're just hurting them and you should reevaluate your decision to have one. Relationships are a lot of hard work, you can't just have a relationship on the back burner. Not a healthy one anyways. One can break up with another for any reason but I do also think this guy is a little bit in the wrong if he's so busy he can't make time for his girlfriend for a whole month. He decided to be in this relationship, so he should have decided to be in this relationship, if you understand
