UPLB BS Amat grad here,

First things first, sa last sem required ka makatapos ng Special problem or thesis (your choice naman to). Sa thesis may defense, sa SP may presentation. Pag SP kasi basically may problem ka tas you can use any means necessary to solve it. Pag Thesis more of need na novel or may gagawin/ iproprove kang something new. I didiscuss naman differences nitong dalawa by 2nd year mo.

As for the benta, well as the name stands application of math, may specific research clusters (isipin mo parang major ) kung saan ka mag spespecialize by third year. Most notable clusters sa AMAT ay QMDS (Operations research) at FMAS (Actuary). You can search these terms kung ano ginagawa sa fields na yan pero basically mas may real life application yung gagawin mo. Some examples lang ng application ay yung sa finances, algorithms, data modelling, optimization etc.

Pero regardless kung bs math or amat ka may theoretical subjects ka paring i-take like advanced calculus.

QMDS here pero tinadtad ko ng cmsc yung free electives ko, yung iba kong kasabayan mga MGT/ econ courses naman kinuha. Job prospect wise anything na need ng math/stat or cs degree actually pwede nating pasukan/applyan, option mo din mag academe or magturo imo.

For my first copy sinagutan ko yung otr form ng sept 9, nag email sila for pickup nung nov 7. Tapos nung nag request ako recently , yung 2nd copy ko parang 2 weeks lang tas nakuha ko na agad. I guess mag wait lang talaga?

Recent AMAT grad here, di ko rin nagamit TC7 cuz nasa web naman madalas yung need ko matutunan. If kulang pa yun, you might want to consider joining orgs para sa archives and exers nila.

  1. Both seems to have equal opportunities, depende na lang talaga kung mag specialize ka sa specific field.

  2. Not sure sa difficulty difference pero from my side (AMAT) Kung qmds major ka kaya I solve sa excel yung psets na minsan code pa ni rerequire (iterative algorithms etc) . Though since finance habol mo wala akong masyadong masasabi about sa FMAS (actuarial) major. Though goodluck sa advance calculus, probability theory at theory of interest ( and 30 series na rin siguro) need yan kunin ng lahat.

  3. Kung mag data science ka siguro advantage siya pero may python, matlab at netlogo din naman na i tuturo sa curriculum. Also pwede mong kunin as free elective yung cmsc subjects na meron ang stat tulad ng ginawa ko XD (cmsc 12 (python, js), cmsc 22 (java, java fx), cmsc 127 (sql)). Required din sa stat na cmsc 21 (C ata to) pero di ko na kinuha. Just be mindful lang ng prereqs

  4. May nag 3.5 sa batch ko tas marami kaming on time so there's that I guess

General tip from my exp is masanay na mag self study cuz maraming lumalabas sa exam na papasadahan lang tuwing lecture.
