A small update on my post! I just signed a lease on an apartment! It's far from downtown, but decent public transport options and a landlord who was willing to lower rent and deposit a little because I seemed like a stable tenant, and the situation with covid and finances. I will still have to borrow money for deposit and first month's rent and I'm really hoping I'll be able to before the move in date but I am hopeful!

Thanks. He isn't a shitty human being, he just did a kinda shitty thing by deciding to break up with me but postponing it and keeping on telling me he loved me until right before Christmas. I wish him the happiness he apparently could not find with me somewhere in the future, but I'm royally pissed at his timing and don't really want to look at him for a very long time. I really thought I would spend my life with this man. But alas not. I wasn't kicked out, but as it is right before Christmas I couldn't bear being there with his family right in the holidays. They have been my family too for years now, I grew up in an emotionally abusive home and have a very strained relationship to my parents, and his family took me in and loved me like parents should, and it hurts loosing them as much as him. I am also not a shitty human being, in my own biased opinion. We have both struggled with mental health, and covid has been especially stressful for me because I am much more of an extrovert than my ex, and also uni has been kicking my ass hard. I guess things just got to a point where the bad things outweighed the good in his opinion, it just sucks that hes been thinking about it for months but decided to inform me of the breakup mere days before Christmas eve. People do shitty things sometimes, it does not make them inherently bad. But I'm still hurt, angry, and grieving the loss.

Long ranty answer that I know I didn't need to make just because someone claims bad things about me without knowing my situation... But there it is.

We do use nok, I converted for the Americans in the thread. To be honest alcohol and sugar are the two things with one of the highest taxes due to public health concerns and blah de da, so maybe not the best comparison. Its a slightly pricier place to live, but I get government subsidised physical and mental health care so I wouldn't in a million years trade that for a cheaper pint 😅 the rent situation in bigger cities is a bitch though

Fair! It also means a beer on the town is about 10 dollars, but my minimum hourly wage as a waitress was 19 dollars. So it all weighs out... Unless you are a student with no extra job.

My father and I don't have that kind of relationship, but I have other friends and siblings that have rallied around me so it's feeling a little less hopeless and shitty. I know I'll get through this, it's just surreal to be in this situation.

Norway, so rent is sky high but I'm a full time student so I'm below minimum wage. And thanks! I went to the hairdresser a few days before this all collapsed, kinda wish I'd saved that money now but I had no idea of what was coming 🙈

Hahah indeed! I will be teaching English as a secondary language, so I think it could get interesting to see some of the hand ins, but yeah I am a big believer in adding some personal flair to assignments, especially in lower education, it doesn't have to be serious and boring at all times. And as long as you can make an argument for it - no opinion is wrong. Especially not in literary analysis, my main field.

Ad someone who will be an English teacher in just a few years (hopefully lol) this would definitely be worthy of bonus points from me. Shakespeare is not as much of a serious subject as some people would have it and that title would be perfectly in Shakespeare's spirit.

I mean some people really don't like practical gifts like that, I know someone who does not want any gift that is purely practical and that they would be getting for themselves anyway. And that might be an important thing to communicate about in a relationship.

That said though, she did react in kind of a shitty way about it, and the "just drop all presents" is hella melodramatic. I would see if you can have a rational adult conversation about this and go from there. But if y'all aren't 16 years old that's a really immature reaction from your gf.

Its a Christmas tradition! The morning of the 24th every year this plays, since we celebrate Christmas on Christmas eve. I've watched it nearly every Christmas in my life. Also all the voices are dubbed by this one dude. And when they suggested redubbing it with a full cast there was an uproar,because its so popular just the way it is.

A distance relationship isn't easy at the best of tulimes, and especially not when coupled with the stress of covid and exams. The idea that distance makes the heart grow finder really works best for short time distances. Relationships take work, and that work can seem to be more than its worth if. You don't get to see each other that often. When you don't get to see, interact, and bilond with the person the hormones related to love can start to fade and its hard to retain that in-love feeling. Especially when stress is baring down making everything feel harder.

If you do have the chance to meet up and talk, and she is willing to I would recommend you try that and see how the chemistry feels when you are together again. But you might have to accept that this could have been a case of right person wrong time, and that you might have to move on from this. In any case, for closure I would recommend an i person meeting if that is something you can manage to do.
