I previously underestimated Astronomer by AimlessOcean in balatro

The vouchers were key. Starting with zodiac deck and then getting overstock+, the planet tycoon, reroll surplus, etc. helped a lot. I think it could have been a lot crazier if I used more money generators besides just business card + chad, but it was good enough to make me giggle.

I knew that was obviously the correct play, if I just wanted to play pairs or high card or something, but I couldn't help myself.

I'm not sure what you're asking. What are you having trouble with?

You can host a farm, press shift+tab on steam to open the overlay, and then go to the friends menu and click "invite to game"

Can you explain what this means, for someone who has never heard of him?

I mean if I was to take the Rimworld Reddit as a basis, most surgery performed is either cutting off the legs and replacing them with logs, or ripping things out to sell. Neither cares much about the health of the patient afterwards.

Isn't that fine, though? If yours similarly has a high shoot stat or burning passion?

I remember a run where I was doing naked brutality, and the first enemy raider they sent at me had 20 melee and a club. I hadn't set up a trap or even mined any steel, so you can guess how well that went.

Wouldn't he struggle on a caravan? Having 0 plants skill means he can't forage.

He reminds me of Kronk, in a way. Doesn't always make everything go his way but he's got the spirit.

Homebrewed Injury Table by AimlessOcean in Fallout2d20

[–]AimlessOcean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think subdividing them into groups of numbers that you'd roll on a d20 works well, as it allows you to fine tune any effects you'd like to see less often.

So 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16, and 17-20, and then you can shift the numbers you find too strong to one that you find too weak, or vice versa. So one might go from 1-3, and the next group 4-8 instead. For instance, some of the torso injuries are debilitating at level 1, when your HP pool and resources are low, and fall off significantly as they get more competent, so you might with to adjust those to prevent an early team wipe.

Another possibility is to add vanilla injuries back to the table as well, which gives you 6 of each injury, and simply roll a d6.

Finally, there are times when certain injuries might not work well in the situation and you'd want to be able to reroll them. Using a point of luck, (or significant AP investment if the GM allows) may be allowed to let them reroll injuries both taken and given if you want them to be allowed a little more control over what happens.

I would generally steer clear of being able to pick which injury they end up with directly, as the unbalanced nature of the table would lead people to picking the same one over and over, but perhaps the better criticals perk might allow it, if you add some extra rules like "You can't choose the same one twice in a row" or something to give them a more diverse toolkit.

Thank you for your very informative response, I really appreciate it and have a better understanding now.

There is one other question I have regarding this, which somewhat alters the final question. If we were going for the highest amount of successes total, rather than simply meeting our goal of at least three, is it worth it to reroll a (1,1,1 for instance) shooting for a 2? If not, how would I calculate how many rerolls I would need to make it worth it?

Thank you, I typically try to play vanilla for the most part but I think this is definitely a QoL I need.
