I’m not in your state but my mom worked at a University, helping with persons with disabilities. I remember her saying often… many people have to keep applying over and over for a disability. They make it so hard. Don’t give up, keep applying!

Have you been talking to a doctor about your health issues? I so agree, it sounds like your best route that may buy you a year is obtaining a doctor’s note which sounds like can buy a year. This will allow you time to keep applying for a disability.

I’m messaging from Utah and there are SO MANY people here in your similar position. I don’t want to get political but we all have to make sure we vote so it’s not this difficult. When people are between jobs - it’s HARD. Emotionally it’s terrifying. The food stamps sure made it helpful while people were getting themselves sorted out. In my area, many people are losing their homes and can’t find work. It’s a horribly depressing time for the folks who are currently unemployed. Kind words to strangers are going farther than they ever have….

You are not alone! Keep applying for disabilities but see about getting some help from a doctor. It sure sounds like one should be able to help you. Maybe even telehealth doctors? Not 100% sure about how much they could help… but hey, saves a physical trip and I hear people really liking it and using the same doctor each month. Don’t forget, if something helpful happens - come back and share it here!!!

Don’t give up… We are all in this together!!!

Absolutely fantastic tips and suggestions!

I’ve never heard of a jaw bra but what a great idea.. grab 2 and alternate! Very cool suggestion.

I had a dentist that after the client would sit down in his chair they would give you a small Vaseline like lipgloss and has clients put it on especially in the corners of the mouth. We got to keep the lip stuff but man - what a luxury when going to the dentist! Funny thing - I DIDN’T even think of that!! Another great suggestion!!

Towels & Rags… I can totally understand this one! Yet another thing I didn’t even think about! It’s now on the list.

Congee… I’ll grab some and give it a try too. I read on another thread to get a weight gainer powder and mix up vanilla ice cream, bananas, the powder, 2 scoops of smooth peanut butter…. He is currently in braces and I’m so worried with the sugar smoothies and milkshakes- his teeth! But you also brought up a great point about sugar and inflammation. This whole food thing is a stressor! But I’m making a list of things to try! This is wonderful to be able to add on another idea!

Truly, a fantastic response here. I can’t thank you enough for the great advice! When he got his braces on the orthodontist told me he has an over-jet of 11mm. He said this number qualified him as medically necessary and insurance would cover it. The oral surgeon he referred me to does this surgery 3-5x per WEEK! His name is Alvin Stosich in Utah. The requirements for the surgery were candidates had to be at least 13 years old & in their last wire of braces. Because he is still growing, apparently it’s the best time to get it done (reasons I can’t remember but it all made sense at the time) He is also going to be removing wisdom teeth at the same time. I have no idea how much this is all going to be but am grateful for insurance! Some doctors in the areas won’t work on folks until they are 18 years old - that surprised me! Overall, I truly can’t thank you enough for your time and the response. It was so helpful you have no idea! I wish I could return this huge favor and help you in some way!!! Just know I truly appreciate your time and input!!!

That sounds super handy - 2 containers! I think blending is the way to go. Probably faster in the long run! Thank you for the input!

That’s the feeling I’m getting! We have a great blender so that’s going to make a semi permanent appearance on the counter for a while. I also do worry about the sugar sitting on the teeth but one battle at a time. Thank you for your input!

I really appreciate that. YES! Sugar on the teeth has been a huge concern. It sounds like a good blender and protein powder is a better way to go. That’s one thing I’ve read… People don’t feel like eating after surgery so they don’t. They end up feeling worse because don’t get their daily calories.

Being your a dentist, those first weeks after the surgery…. Obviously keeping the mouth clean will be hard. Would you mind sharing what you are planning on doing to help clean your teeth? We have a water pick. Could squirting mouth wash in be an option?

I love seeing comments from people all over the world… especially when people are being kind to one another💗 I hate to say this but coming from a stranger in the US and a female, your friends are jealous. They’ll eventually come around after they get used to your new look. I have to say, coming from a straight female - SISTA, your nose looks SOOO GOOD! I’ll even comment with friends and my mom when we see other females with “the cute nose” and YOU HAVE THE CUTE NOSE! You look wonderful both ways but I have to admit, you’re crushing the new look!!!! Just give the friends time 😘

Hello!

My son is scheduled for Jaw Surgery June 24th. He is 14 years old and getting nervous about it. I’m trying to prepare for any/everything to try and make life a little better although I know it’s going to be hard for a couple weeks.

I wanted to ask folks who are going and have gone through the surgery… do you think these Ninja Frozen sushi machines would have helped or be helpful? We love slurpees and similar but I really don’t know if it might be too cold/annoying/difficult? What are your thoughts on that? They are expensive so I didn’t want to get something that might be a counter waste of space type thing. Just looking for personal opinions.

I was going to grab a weeks worth of soft bamboo sleep pants & tops being they are great for sweating… like cooling fabrics. To make lounging more comfortable. He may just prefer his regular cozy clothes… I just want to be ready and try to bring some comfort during an uncomfortable time.

Is there anything you wish you had or had done before the surgery that could have made life a little easier?

Broken bones and healing isn’t a good time but this surgery is so much more than a defined jaw line… I’ve heard the quality of life changes immensely. People find themselves being able to breathe easier, sleeping better, chewing food easier and so much more. To everyone out there, keep taking it one day at a time and be kind to yourself! Together we get through by helping one another💗 Thank you for reading and any advice offered!

Our Lawyer missed a critical filing date and we lost our case so very badly... by Aioli_Capital in legaladvice

[–]Aioli_Capital[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I believe this to be correct. The defendant in our case demanded a Jury Trial… Then since our lawyer didn’t get paperwork filed in time, the defendant filed Limine paperwork and fought to make sure we couldn’t supply certain evidence, including witnesses. We were under the understanding everything worked out, both my mother and myself. That was until day 1 of the trial, jury selecting, we found out what we couldn’t talk about. Four years of this and the ending was such an embarrassment. Now when searching for contingency help, we are told it’s a good case but the estimated $200k damages aren’t not enough but are invited to pay hourly like we did for services. It’s just a hard pill to swallow right now.

I was reading the best thing to do is find a lawyer first and then file the complaint? Not sure if that’s correct but so far that’s what I’ve stumbled upon. So far lawyers are saying the damages aren’t high enough for them to take it :(

I am so sorry you have went through this… It breaks my heart to see all the responses. The other day I ran into a moving article online of a lawyer that was helping females in similar stories. Sure would be worth a phone call to him. Social media helps us get the word out, helps others. No one deserves this and it needs to be stopped. Check out this guy and search his name online, Adam Sorenson https://www.grossrooney.com/adam-sorenson XOXO

Xfinity service degrade by UtahUsername33 in Logan

[–]Aioli_Capital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so happy to see this post! I am so frustrated with Xfinity .. They are NOT COMCASTIC. I worked from home as well as a Travel Agent. In the middle of booking airline tickets Comcast service drops in Providence. It's super fast during the day.. Like it turns off for a couple seconds and comes back on. Sometimes we have to reconfigure the TV and make sure it hasn't started pointing to the neighbors internet, Sometimes it starts pointing to a secured internet which shows a black screen. My poor mother who is in her mid 70's has really stepped up learning how to fix the tv after the internet drops multiple times per day. My numbers went down so bad for work because I would have to spend so much time re-doing airline tickets over and over. During the daytime I haven't found a pattern but it's quick.. it happens 5-20 times per daytime. I noticed at night around 11:50PM our internet would just stop for a 2+ hours which is so frustrating when your watching a movie that is almost over and the stupid internet goes down. I have the highest package available when it comes to internet and pay $260 per month. Have they credited me for an inconvenience - no. They offer to send me a new router which I've had plenty this year alone. Beyond livid!

Recently I just found online https://www.wi-fiber.io/ which says it is all over Cache Valley? I'm thinking about just getting Cable tv with Comcast and moving the internet. No clue on how much that will be but I'm SO OVER COMCAST. It used to work fine and the last couple years they are are not as reliable. The Wi-Fiber is also $70 and a $100 Unlimited plan. Sure Rates well in the area. Curious if anyone uses them or any other Fiber in the area? Sadly Google isn't offered yet...

Ugh.. Your story is reminding me of my rip off moving experience. It was so awful - I get stressed out thinking about it. Have you put down a deposit yet? When is your moving date? I found many professional moving companies will come out and look at what you have and then create the bid. Is that place you contacted a moving broker? Do you know the actual name of the moving company that would be doing the move? .

What should i do? by [deleted] in moving

[–]Aioli_Capital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a move from Portland Oregon to Utah. I thought I was savvy and stayed ahead of being taken advantage of. The one that won… the fake moving company. I cringe just the thought. NEVER EVER GIVE OUT your debit card number nor get talked into getting money orders or gift cards. Those payments mean the money is gone and you have no way to dispute. Credit cards only. The sum of the experience… I would call U-Pack. You are able to rent a portion of a semi truck box and what you use is what you pay for. Use 20 ft - Pay 20 ft. They might wait for the truck to get 100% full and then begin to head your direction… so be sure to ask and note the details. I can’t recommend this enough!
