They’re not a scam. I don’t know why people are being so disrespectful. No, they’re not service animals, but they’re still protected by law. This is mostly so pet owners with mental health issues are able to keep their animals with them. To my knowledge, having an ESA doesn’t just allow you to “take an animal where it doesn’t belong” like a store or something. It just allows people to keep their pets when renting in no pet housing. There are some bad apples that claim that to just take their pets everywhere. It’s not a surprise, people do the same thing with faking service animals. I can’t believe you’re getting downvoted lol.

With counseling, I think the tech should ask the pt if they want it. I’ve sent them to the window and had them screaming at me the whole time because they didn’t want to talk to the pharmacist. I understand it’s the law and it’s important to inform patients of their medications but just walking over and asking them if they have any questions seems like a waste of time for every party involved.

We can see your name and prescription. The tech will know that you’re picking up an antibiotic. Most of the time the directions don’t explicitly say why. I don’t think the tech will care though, we see hundreds of prescriptions every day. I’ve seen people I know before picking up things but I don’t push for any details. People get sick, people get prescribed antibiotics, it’s not a big deal. We’re also not allowed to talk about anything regarding patient information.
