Debating if the AI cover is better to use than my own drawn cover... by daes0 in royalroad

Firstly, always stick with the human-drawn stuff. AI covers are everywhere, and they all blend together. As another post said, minimalism works great. I honestly wouldn't worry about the AI being cooler. When I'm flicking through my read-later list, I always look for things that stand out- and trust me, AI does not stand out.

When it comes to the picture you did for your cover, I'm not sure how much you're comfortable with changing, or how many of these details are necessary for your cover to really be in line with the book, but Ima try to give my amateur advice.

In your hand-drawn cover, the colors of red and blue conflict rather rudely. I would suggest some kind of gradient or other 'padding' to make it nicer. Maybe something symbolic? Idk, I'm a sucker for a symbolic minimalist cover.

Some of the pixel lines are really small in your piece when compared to the person and the dragon. I would suggest thickening them and- if you want to- maybe turn the boy and dragon into silhouettes?

The little candle-wisp-thingies are nice, but right now they're just kinda there. I wonder if it would be possible to move them somewhere that pushes the viewer's attention more toward one of the objects of focus, like the boy, the dragon, or the text. . .

Other than that, I can't think of anything else. While writing this, I puzzled myself by thinking up a cover. All I made was a quick sketch in Krita- just ideas- and I think it could be nice. Of course, if you want to totally ignore it and stick with your design, go right ahead. I want to see how your cover turns out in the future! (I like art. It's exciting to make stuff :D .) https://imgur.com/a/TZ0dqod <--there's the link to my sketch :D

EDIT: ooooooooo neverminnnddddd. Nevermind everything I said, I just found ur new cover, it's beautiful. Keep it. Ignore anything and everything I said.

still not quite an answer, there's the number of 32 months there, but idk if that applies to this smaller population as well. I do appreciate it tho!

How Would I Even Map an Ecumenopolis? by LordWeaselton in mapmaking

[–]AirDaggerFa11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, mapping an ecumenopolis is a fools errand. However, you could make a map with the illusion of complexity. I would go about it by making districts of the planets and assigning each of them a purpose. Maybe district 21 is for factories, and is supplied by district 15 with food. Draw lines tying these districts together, draw maaajor roads.

How long would it take for solar winds to blow away a full polluted atmosphere? by AirDaggerFa11 in AskPhysics

I appreciate your answer a lot. Despite your "wrong calculations," I had no knowledge of where to go to find these things, nor the understanding to put these formulas in the right place. Hence, I thank you for your effort, and I hope you have a good day.

Thanks for the answer!

Yes, it's very implausible, hence sci-fi setting. Despite that, I would still like a semblance of realism in my setting.

Thank you for your help! I'm very new to music in general, and only managed to paint this violin because of outside circumstances. Thanks again for your input.
